Mick O’Dwyer’s medal collection will be donated to the GAA Museum in Croke Park today.

GAA president Jarlath Burns will attend the ceremony, which takes place at 12.30pm, along with a number of former players. The medals have been donated by the Kerry legend’s widow, Geraldine McGirr, who he married two years ago.

‘Micko’ passed away last April at the age of 88. The Waterville native won four All-Irelands as a player before managing the Kingdom to four eight more Sam Maguire Cup triumphs in the 1970s and ‘80s, during a period of fierce rivalry with Kevin Heffernan's Dublin.

He also managed Kildare and Laois to Leinster SFC glory and had spells in charge of Wicklow and Clare as well.
