Roscommon cruised into the last four of the Connacht senior football championship after seeing off London with a strong second-half showing in Ruislip.
It finished 2-26 to 0-13 at McGovern Park, where goals from Diarmuid Murtagh and Ciarain Murtagh helped Davy Burke’s men keep things to script and book a provincial semi-final date with either Galway or New York who will clash tomorrow in the Bronx at 3pm (8pm Irish time).
The visitors registered the opening two points before Diarmuid Murtagh palmed in the first goal of the 2025 senior football championship in the eighth minute as the Rossies looked like pulling away early.
London battled back though and kept themselves right in the fight, trailing by Murtagh’s goal at half-time (1-10 to 0-10) after Ciaran Diver (2), Shay Rafter (2) and Eoin Walsh sailed over scores during the second quarter.
Roscommon hit the first three points of the restart to push the margin out to half a dozen again and, while Rafter pulled one back for the Exiles, a Ciaráin Murtagh two-pointer would be backed up by a McKeon score before the former planted the ball to the net midway through the second-half.
Another McKeon point made it a double scores game as the Rossies outscored their opponents by 0-8 to 0-1 in the closing 15 minutes to comfortably advance to their Connacht semi-final on Easter Sunday.
