One of the longest winning streaks in Irish sport came to an end over the weekend when Ballymacarby were dethroned as Waterford senior ladies football champions.
Ballymac’ had won a remarkable 42 county titles in-a-row, but their long reign came to a sudden halt when they lost last Friday night’s county final at Fraher Field to Comeragh Rangers, who had lost 11 of the previous 12 deciders to the long-time champions.
Four goals from Waterford star Katie Murray propelled the Rangers to a famous 5-3 to 1-6 victory.
