In a stunning development Nickie Quaid has been given the no. 1 jersey for Limerick just five months after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

Last November it was confirmed that the five-time All-Ireland winning goalkeeper had sustained the injury and it was thought he would miss the entire 2025 intercounty season as a result.

It was expected that Shane Dowling would start in goals against Tipperary for Sunday’s Munster SHC opener with Jason Gillane as backup.

Instead Gillane isn’t included in the game day 26 with Dowling wearing no. 16.
