Loughmore-Castleiney have completed another Tipperary double after triumphing to the county senior football championship title with a 0-11 to 0-7 victory over holders Clonmel Commercials at Semple Stadium.
After seeing off Toomevara in the Premier County’s senior hurling decider seven days ago, the club’s colours were back inside the Thurles venue as they looked to deny Commercials a three-in-a-row and pick up their first SFC crown since 2021.
They’d open up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead after 12 minutes and the points of Brian McGrath and Liam McGrath would help them to lead by 0-9 to 0-4 at the interval.
Points from Noel McGrath and Brian McGrath cancelled out the efforts of Sean O’Connor and Padraic Looram to keep the margin at five heading into the final quarter.
Cathal Deely struck over a mark in the 51st minute to make it a four-point game, but Commercials couldn’t reduce their deficit any further than that as Loughmore recorded their club’s 16th SFC success.
