Darragh McCarthy struck for 2-7 as Toomevara saw off Moycarkey Borris by 2-19 to 0-20 at Semple Stadium to advance to their first Tipperary senior hurling championship final since 2008.
McCarthy smashed in both his goals in the run up to half-time as Toomevara led by 2-9 to 0-11 when the sides went in.
The victors would stretch their lead after the turnaround ahead of points from Kyle Shelly (2) and David Costigan narrowing the deficit down to two for Eddie Brennan’s men.
McCarthy (free), Jack Delaney and Kevin McCarthy raised white flags to make it 2-17 to 0-18 with five minutes left in normal time. Darren Delany and Darragh McCarthy, who finished with 2-7, would round off the winning tally in that time as Toomevara moved into the Dan Breen Cup decider.
