The funeral took place yesterday of Kilbride and Roscommon ladies football star Rochelle Mullaney.
Aged just 30, Rochelle, or ‘Rocky’ as she was affectionately known, passed away on Saturday following a battle with cervical cancer. Former club and county team-mate Alice Kelly told Shannonside Radio that Rochelle was “always full of fun, full of mischief”.
Roscommon LGFA has also paid tribute to the young woman, saying in a statement: "Rochelle played with Kilbride at underage and adult levels, winning county titles with her club. Rochelle also represented Roscommon at inter-county level with distinction.
“A very popular and talented girl, Rochelle will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with Rochelle's parents, Patricia and Tommy, sister Vanessa, brother David, partner Michael, extended family, friends and teammates. May her gentle soul rest in Peace."
