Castleblayney produced a dominant display to see off Inniskeen by 2-20 to 0-11 in Latton this afternoon to claim their seventh Monaghan senior hurling championship title in eight years.
Beaten by the same opposition in last year’s decider, ‘Blayney never looked back in this one from the moment Brian McGuigan netted their first goal just two minutes in.
Three minutes later Thomas Hughes had the sliotar back in the Inniskeen net as the town side raced towards a 2-7 to 0-2 lead come half-time.
Brian Minogue pulled back a point for Inniskeen early in the restart and they’d add eight more to their tally over the next half-hour, however it wasn’t enough to deny ‘Blayney a 34th Mick Quigley Cup success.
