Drumree 0-12 Kiltale 4-22
On a bright sunny evening in Drumree, the home side welcomed a strong Kiltale outfit in what proved to be a challenging but spirited encounter. While the scoreboard ultimately favoured the visitors, the commitment and fighting spirit shown by the Red and White never wavered from first whistle to last.
From the throw-in, Drumree worked hard to compete in every sector of the field. Jack Mahon was in outstanding form from placed balls, racking up an impressive 0-11 (8 frees, 3 from play), while Brendan Walsh chipped in with a fine point from play.
The defence faced waves of Kiltale pressure but refused to wilt. Darragh Carolan and Darragh Walsh stood firm in the full-back line, while Padraig Clinton and Darren Lawless battled tirelessly to break down attacks. Wing-backs Jeff Wall and Cillian Gavin worked hard to link play from defence to attack.
Midfield pairing David Dunne and Jack Leonard won valuable possession to feed the forward line. In attack, Sean Kennedy, Johnny O’Connor, and John Crimmins all linked up well, while Jamie Rattigan added pace and energy to the inside line.
The introduction of substitutes brought fresh legs—James Gaughan made an immediate impact after coming on, Ronan Gilsenan injected energy in the half-forward line, and Cillian Dennehy worked hard in the closing stages.
While the final scoreline doesn’t tell the full story, those in attendance witnessed a team that refused to give up, played for the jersey, and will take valuable lessons into the next outing.
This was a tough evening against quality opposition, but the togetherness, work rate, and flashes of quality on display give Drumree plenty to build on for the rest of the season.
