Ratoath 0-22 Kiltale 0-12

Jubilee Cup holders Ratoath got their title defence off to a winning start with ten points to spare over Kiltale at Lomans Park Trim. The winners were reduced to 14 men midway through the opening half when midfielder Ciaran O’Hanrahan received a second yellow from referee Bernard Heaney.

Podge O’Hanrahan gave an exhibition of shooting and finished the game with 14 points.

An O’Hanrahan brace and one from the impressive Cian Rogers gave Ratoath early control but Kiltale hit back to level matters with scores from Jack Regan (2) and Fearghal McCabe. Before the short whistle the Jubilee Cup holders outscored their opponents 0-8 to 0-4 and go in at the break 0-11 to 0-7 in front, O’Hanrahan accounting for six of those points.

Gavin McGowan and Seanie Corbett extended that lead in the opening minutes of the second half, O’hanrahan and Rogers added to their tally and the team in Blue and Gold were eight points in front by the end of the third quarter. At the other end Kiltale were getting very little change from an excellent Ratoath defence led by Ben McGowan, Cormac Butler, Conor McGill and farrago Kelly. O’Hanrahan raised another five white flags before the close of business as Ratoath made a winning start to Group A.

Next up for Ratoath are Blackhall Gaels, Kiltale take on Longwood.

Ratoath scorers: Padraig O’Hanrahan 0-14, Cian Rogers 0-3, Gavin McGowan and Sean Corbett 0-2 each, Bryan McMahon 0-1

Kiltale scorers: Jack Regan 0-4, Fearghal McCabe 0-2, Hughie O’Sullivan, Jack Bannon, Philly Garvey, James Kelly, Peter Durnin and Mark O’Sullivan 0-1 each
