HL Div 1: Kildalkey too strong for Killyon

June 17, 2024

Kildalkey's Paddy Conneely

Kildalkey 4-19 Killyon 1-9

Killyon was Kildalkeys opponents in Round 5 of the Division 1HL at home.

Paddy Conneely and Paddy Barnwell hit a goal each early on and points from Conneely with 3 Niall McNally with 2 frees and Luke Rickard were the other scores in the half but Kilyon hit back with 5 points of their own and a goal from a close in free from Keith Keoghan.

Kildalkey led by 2-6 to 1-5 at halftime but the margin could’ve been more but for some wayward shooting hitting 9 wides.

With the wind on their backs the hit the ground running from the start of the second half with points Brin Kelly Ben and Luke Rickard  and Conneely who was in fine form as  the dominated proceedings.

The defence worked hard and cut out numerous Kilyon attacks also.

Another goal each from Barnwell and Conneely sealed the win as they ran out 4-19 to 1-9 winners on the night.

Last years captain David Conneely returned from his travels and was welcomed back by the home supporters while the full forward line accounted for 4-11 of the winning tally.
