Darragh O'Reilly Carnaross

Carnaross 3-10 Gaeil Colmcille 1-5

Carnaross welcomed neighbours Gaeil Colmcille to Páirc Naomh Chiarán on Friday night. It was double celebrations for the club on the night with our u13 girls being crowned league champions on the adjacent pitch 2.

Dillon Fox raised the green flag after 10minutes when he left his marker for dead firing a bullet of a shot to the net. Carnaross extended their lead with well taken scores from Dermot McGee and Charlie Murphy. The rampaging centre back Paddy Farnan bulled forward to strike a rare score. Farnan lined up against our former selector and current influencer Gary McGovern, over the course of the hour. The town team were playing well but couldn't convert their chances due to a teak tight defence led by Fleming, O'Connor and Cormac Yore. Tomas Plunkett finished off the scoring after his dazzling run put The Ross ahead 1-04 to 0-01.

The second half continued in a similar vain with Carnaross pushing further ahead through a superb Oisin Yore score. Charlie Murphy collected a McGee delivery, claimed the mark and tapped over to double his tally. The Gaeils stormed back into the game however through their midfielder Boshell who struck for goal. Murphy added a free before Darragh O’Reilly began to stretch his legs adding a score of his own. It was a fiery affair with 3 black cards and 1 red with neither team prepared to take a backwards step. The tireless John Reilly put some distance between the sides when his shot was bundled into the net. Carnaross' work ethic was clear and they broke up numerous attacks with great blocks and dispossessions. Oisín Yore was denied a certain goal by a great goal line clearance with Darragh's rebound blunted too. Gaeil Colmcille were hampered by their first team playing the next evening limiting their player availability. The game became very stretched in the final quarter as Mossy Plunkett doubled his tally. John L McGee added a point as the Hoops' bench provided some much needed imputis. Darragh O’Reilly rounded off the scoring with a well taken goal.

With 2 rounds of the league to go, the Ross sit in 6th position, knowing the remaining games against Dunshaughlin and Dunboyne are crucial.
