A claim was made at this week’s Mayo county board meeting that players and supporters are ‘not happy’ with the senior football management.
As a review into this year’s performances continues, Garrymore delegate John Farragher went as far as to ask for a change of management. It comes amid speculation that manager Kevin McStay will be requested to make alterations to his backroom team.
“A lot of people are not happy, they want change,” Farragher is quoted as saying by Mayo Live.
“And questionnaires sent out to players, I’m hearing players are not happy. This sends out alarm bells. What I’m saying, if you lose a dressing room…you can forget about it.
“I can tell you, I go to a lot of games and the supporters, the genuine people going through the turnstiles are not happy.”
Louisburgh delegate John Gibbons added: “People are not happy with our selectors, our coaches, people are not happy. And that’s out there and it’s out there big time.”
In response, Mayo GAA chairman Seamus Tuohy said he had heard no complaints from any of the players and urged delegates to ‘trust the process’.
