Paddy Lynch scored 0-10 as St Fechin’s were crowned Louth senior hurling champions for the fourth year in-a-row following a 1-17 to 1-10 victory over Knockbridge at Dowdallshill yesterday.
A 35th minute Seaghán Conneely goal was also crucial for the holders who were never headed. Knockbridge battled hard over the hour, but were undermined by a tally of 15 wides as Fechin’s maintained their vice-like grip on the Paddy Kelly Cup.
The winners were 0-11 to 0-4 up before a Brian Corcoran goal in the 28th minute brought Knockbridge back into it. Man of the match Lynch replied with a point to send St Fechin’s into the break with a 0-12 to 1-4 lead and they never looked back after Conneely’s goal extended their advantage to 1-13 to 1-5 four minutes after the restart.
St Fechin’s now have a long wait until the start of the Leinster Club JHC in October.
