Wolfe Tones were crowned Longford senior hurling champions for the first time since 2020 and 21st time overall following a 2-15 to 3-10 victory over Longford Slashers at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park yesterday.
Free-taker Cathal Malone hit 0-11 as the Edgeworthstown men withstood a late Slashers rally to regain the JJ Duignan Cup. Goals from Dylan Hutchinson and Killian Courtney helped the winners to a 2-13 to 2-6 lead midway through the second half before Slashers closed the gap with a goal from substitute Niall Hawes five minutes from time.
However, Mullane’s 10th free in injury-time made victory safe for the Mostrim club.
TweetCongratulations to Wolfe Tones who overcame Longford Slashers on a scoreline of 2-15 to 3-10 to win the Longford Hurling Championship Final this afternoon in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
