They'll have Rian O'Neill. Derry havd been poor all year by their standards. Hard to see Armagh not beating them.

I heard Derry hammered Monaghan in a recent challenge game.

No pressure on Cavan. They can prepare quietly for the game and yet deliver the result to possibly ignite the All Ireland championship! It would be funny if it upstaged the hurling championship! Meath had the audacity to upstage the hurling championship a few weeks ago! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8798 - 16/05/2025 07:17:28 2609945 Link 0 |
I would be very surprised but ye do tend to struggle against perceived weaker opponents and up your game for the strong sides…. Here's hoping for a decent game

Mayo are one of the Top 5 or 6 teams in the Country. There is nothing between them and Galway, a kick of the ball in recent seasons and they are capable of beating anybody else in Croke Park at Quarter final or Semi final stage. I've been shocked at how quickly some pundits have dismissed Mayo this year, I think themselves, Tyrone and Monaghan might shock a few people this year. Cavan have a lot of quality players, they just never seem to get traction and winning steak needed to take them up a level, and I don't see them beating that Mayo side or Tyrone or Donegal. I think Cavan can be competitive, but not sure they can beat those sides with the new rules. Commodore (Donegal) - Posts: 1346 - 16/05/2025 08:57:37 2609954 Link 1 |
it would be no shock to me if Tyrone have a good run at the All Ireland this year, likewise Mayo, a very dangerous dogged team that never know when they are beaten, neither might have enough of the X factor to land Sam but they'll be hard to beat in Croker on a big day.

Hilarious you honestly think Cavan can deliver the result ?! Yet bet you anything if you lot were playing them you'd be like easy win for kerry and no way we loose this the arrogance from a 1 man team . Cavan are decent but mayo to win .

Your 100% spot on ! Fair play to McGuinness he's brought you back to the top . I honestly think you will win sam . We need a new manager mcstay needs to go . We won't win sam but it's just funny how everyone writes us off every year and say the likes of Cavan or that will beat us . No disrespect to Cavan but we should be beating them if not it's season over ... and Mcstay is gone. S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 162 - 16/05/2025 10:16:23 2609973 Link 0 |
Commodore, for me they're nowhere near top 5 or 6. It's the 'kick of the ball' that separates yerselves, Armagh, Kerry, Galway from the rest. Galway were well better than us in the Connacht Final. McStay trotting out the 'we can't seem to close out games' line. Should be doing something about it. Dublin and ourselves have regressed. People talk about us not having forwards but our defending this year has been poor. I think the current management aren't getting the best from the current squad. I can't put my finger on it but something doesn't seem right between players and management. Chalk and cheese with the harmony, competition for places and buy-in that Jimmy McGuinness is getting from his players.

Possibly but will he be fit to go straight back in? Yes Derry haven't looked the same since McGuinness ambushed them last year. Before that they were being talked up as champions elect. I just feel with 7 weeks to plan, they will have a cracking chance against a wounded Armagh shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 330 - 16/05/2025 12:47:32 2610022 Link 0 |
He won't be matchfit but maybe a few games off the bench. Not returning from an injury, has his head sorted now and looked fit at the Ulster final.

Mc Stay is doing his best with a poor poor squad.. They raised their game for Connacht final only and Galway still bet them despite missing two of the best forwards in the country.. Belclare7 (Galway) - Posts: 258 - 16/05/2025 14:30:12 2610049 Link 0 |
I'm not so sure yet if Donegal are genuine contenders for SAM yet, in truth we won't know where we really are at until we can beat a Kerry, Galway, Mayo, Dublin etc in the quarter final, semi finals of the All Ireland in Croke Park. Last season we were definitely close, but just fell short against Galway, but as it stands we haven't beat anyone major outside of Ulster yet and the group stages of All Ireland don't really count, as some games are dead rubbers. I think Mayo can potentially win it, you have the quality players all over, but you need all your key men to remain fit until the end. Pundits often write Mayo off because of the number of AI final losses, which is hurtful, but I think you are capable of beating any team on any given day and with a bit of momentum you could do Tyrone are on the way to become a serious team again, lot of talented young players merging into that 2021 All Ireland winning side, I think they will be genuine challengers in the next year or so . Monaghan are the other team who most impressed me recently, the amount of quality players they have added is amazing, I think they are a rising force in Ulster again. It isn't exactly rocket science that a supporter would be looking at another game for a possible shock. Galway v Dublin and Clare v Down could go either way on the day.

Love your optimism but so hard to see it. We are struggling around the middle and not much backup there either. The game is gone that you need 4 across the midfield.. look at the team yous picked. Unless we got some mad tactic it hard to see us winning enough primary possession

You can take it from me.. no football match will upstage the hurling championship .. and Meaths supposed upstaging didn't last long

Obviously but the amount of comments from other counties egging Cavan on.. No disrespect to them but come on. Would the Dubs , kerry , Galway be going oh no worries for cavan we've that in the bag . But cause it's mayo you all love to go against us. Fair enough time for siege mentality!! Cavan are decent but hard for them in having facing a division 1 team. People love to write mayo off . I totally get it I nearly do myself sometimes. . But absolute joke people are like Cavan will beat mayo. If we fuck ourselves over and loose to Cavan season over . Cillian o Connor, padraid o Hora, oisin mullin back from Aussie land 26 ( good source ), fully fit paddy durcan. Tommy conroy . New management were not far off in 26.
