Replying To Cockney_Cat:  "It caught my eye as well. "We were written off. People weren't giving us a hope, even down home (in Kerry)" - Sean O'Shea
Were written off? What a load of nonsense. It reeks of siege mentality. And to come out with it after being awarded the Player of the Match."
It was more at their own darragh Marc oshea and joe brolly had written then off and while nonsense can be effective and plenty of kerry people had written their own off .

I can see why Jack mentioned this to write off nonsense clearly don't understand

Replying To StoreysTash:  "Is there a more tired, cliched GAA jargon saying?
I'm not in the know enough but I doubt anybody wrote Kerry off in an All-Ireland Quarter Final.
Limerick hurlers have often gone on with this rubbish as well.
Who have been written off? Dublin hurlers v Limerick. Longford or Carlow or whoever v Dublin in first round of Leinster Football Championship.
Its such absolute nonsense and is farcical hearing managers and players peddling this at this stage."
Plenty did more so joe brolly but people in their own county he was getting at reading their forum and lots their opinion they were writing them off and some pundits were .

Maybe some of us wexford or longford don't understand the pressure like that but I think more at some in Kerry

Bet you won't say if wexford and Davy Fitz said it regularly in 2019 .

Replying To CastleBravo:  "It's because it's seen as arrogant to be proud of your actual sporting ability, but lavishing praise upon yourselves for your "character" is more than acceptable, even preferable. And nothing apparently shows character more than winning when others were supposedly writing you off.

If you hear that anyone ,anywhere thinks you have a 49.9% or less chance of winning the game, you are expected to concede the game immediately. But those with character tear up this script, take the field and win."
Self confidence can be misread as arrogance and Irish people don't like it and can't handle it. In other countries great teams are celebrated by the general public. In Ireland once a team wins people want to see the back of them.

Limerick hurlers a perfect example. Whole country was delighted when they broke the famine in 2018 but now want to see the end of them.

Maybe he read kerry forum it was more at them and brolly.

Some people saying they didn't know what Jack or cian were doing that criticism was over top criticism is fine but ye some of their own animals were disrespecting as if they don't know what they are at.

One of the funnier ones was last year when London hockeyed an Offaly team that clearly wanted out of the championship ASAP. There were a few "haha ye fools wrote London off and now you've egg on your faces" afterwards, not that I had seen any predictions for a London win from these hindsight heroes.

Apparently any astute GAA observer should have seen London's 11 years without a championship win, and their single win in 2 years in the league and taken from this that they'd beat Offaly. London have lost all 7 championship games since the Offaly game, reinforcing how much a freak result it was.
