Seen the Ferns Rathnure game. Charlie Mooney took two big hits in that game and got up straight away like nothing happened. He's tall but very slender. Right S&C with senior county set up would do him wonders. Remember watching his father Joe playing years ago who was built like a house and hard as nails so he comes from good stock.

Would have put Rathnure in bottom 3 as pre championship prediction and I'd say their target at start of the year was to stay in senior and get senior championship experience for younger players in their group. But them and St Martins teams of championship so far. Skippy has only lost once in 16 championship games as manager of them and the one they lost they were down to 13 men. Losing was a habit with Rathnure for number of years but seems he's instilled a habit of winning with this team.

Rapps looked a lot better with Liam Ryan back. Hopefully he can stay injury free for rest of the year not just for Rapps but for Wexford hurling in general.

Oulart not going well in both senior and Inter A. Could be a case similar to Buffers Alley and Rathnure where they had a good team over a period of time but when that crop get older and start retiring it leaves a talent vacuum and then they struggle for a number of years just trying to stay in the higher grades."
Agree Jippo is massive for them and us as a county.

Neil O Loughlin is the lead coach at Rathnure and is supposed to be excellent. Was with Skippy at Rapps too.

Oulart have a good crop of players coming, but will take a few years.

Just something to say, is it time to move club games out of wexford park until the knockout stages? Just from watching kilkenny club games there seems to be more of an atmosphere when everyone is standing along the sideline. That feeds into the intensity of the game imo when there's an atmosphere.

There are plenty that would be around the same size as Wexford Park. Wexford Park is 142 x 87 apparently, which wouldn't be at the minimum end but wouldn't be at the maximum end of allowed pitch size either.
Just out of interest has anyone come across any pitches at the absolute minimum allowed length of 130 metres? Basically the 2 65s and the halfway line would all be the same? The shortest I can think of in the county is probably St. Fintans?

Think Wexford Park is chosen as it generally hosts doubles headers on both Saturdays and Sundays. Best logistocally with dressing rooms and parking.Bellfield would be the other choice of venue. Kennedy park would have hosted senior in years gone by but mostly intermediate grade for that. I'd prefer to have the top grade on best pitches in the county and the three mentioned above would be the best.

I find typically clubs that prioritise football tend to have tighter pitches, Castletown etc. I always find that Ballymurns pitch is very small anytime I'm there.

Think the reason Kennedy Park isn't used as much for Senior games is mainly geographical.

Hollymount 2 65s are fairly close together as far as I can remember.

Yeah I would have seen Cloughbawn, Rathnure, St Martins, St Anne's and Glynn play there in last few years.

Was there this year, thought it was shorter than most too, if I had to guess I'd say the pitch was around 138 metres long.

I just heard today that cian molloy done his cruciate of gorey,also heard colm heffernan broke his arm and Richie kehoe broke his leg if all true that is quiet possibly the end of the harriers I'd say for this year, centre back and full back!!! I don't think gorey could afford to lose molloy either,these are serious losses to both teams,who i don't think can be replaced!!!wish them all a speedy recovery if it's true,horrible injuries!!!

Absolutely. Noone wants to see lads picking up those sort of injuries. Hope they make full recoveries.

The main pitch in Kilanerin is 130metres.
