Cavan Minors

(Oldest Posts First)

A brilliant second half from the minors. McConnell was outstanding. They have a great little team there, show good composure on the ball which is a rarity for a Cavan team

But a terrible crowd in Breffni. So few people even knew the game was on. And it was even live on tg4 YouTube.

Surely it is worth putting up a big screen outside Breffni park in the week prior to games advertising day and time of games. Seems like an open goal and it would have tripled attendance, Can't be relying on social media

The Ulster semi final is against Donegal this Saturday 7pm in Breffni

A strange kind of a game. Down were really wasteful in the first half. Kept going for 2 pointers with the wind when maybe could have worked it in closer. Cavan only started to play when they went down to 14. Jake Brady a good prospect.

Donegal in the semis. They made the league final and would be quite strong. 2 of their schools went far in the McRory Cup this year which is rare for donegal schools.

Yes you'd imagine Donegal will be strong. I remember we threw away a minor quarter final to Donegal two or three years ago in Breffni. But I'd be hopeful enough for this team from what I saw last Saturday

Brilliant win this evening. Great to see those lads pull away mid 2nd half and win that. Lot to like about them and we've a final now!

Well done to the players and management team. It would be great to win the final. It would be a real lift to the county and valuable experience for this emerging group.

The bit i liked was that they went and won it in the second half. They got smart and learned around the middle of the field and it paid dividends. The game is up on tg4 youtube if you have some free time

Seems the final is on this Sunday evening in Enniskillen at 5.15. Likely on TG4, maybe their YouTube if not the TV, but let's get out support these lads

Very poor 2nd half from Cavan… conditions were not great but when you only score 1pt in the 2nd half you can't really expect to win any game…. Their West Ham bound no. 13 was virtually unmarkable on the night…

Tyrone were deserving winners yesterday. Cavan played in patches and were probaly fortunate to be leading at half time. Cavan made a lot of errors in first 10 minutes, maybe nerves. Donahoe and Graham had good games. Quigley took the goal well.
Tyrone turned over a lot of ball. Well drilled team.
Joel kerr was very good. He is joining West Ham in july,so a loss to tyrone down the line.

Trophies are nice, but game time and keeping those lads together is more important. Managed properly there are a few lads with bright futures on that team. If they go into the Kerry game with the right attitude they can give it a right rap. Very impressed with Cavan manager, speaking after the game. Just the type of guy that young lads will learn a lot from. No excuses no BS from him. He knows that on another day Under 16s and 17s can perform differently. No reason why you cant go on and make it an all Ulster final for the third year in a row. Best of luck.

Watched the Kerry v Cork game too. Very strong spine to the kerry Team (especially midfield, 11 and 14) and they had loads of options off the bench. Would need to stop their running game. Cork weren't half bad either but their final ball wasn't good enough

Flat enough display by the minors. A late burst brought Cavan back into it but kerry were very wasteful and mcconnell made a few good saves. Ref didnt help but it wasnt his fault Cavan went long periods without scoring. Cavan were too slow moving the ball.
