Shorts Vs Skorts

I heard someone make an interesting point about all of this.

In that Dublin Kilkenny game. Say the game had gone ahead and they were wearing shorts for it. Say Dublin win could Kilkenny then object to the result as they didn't go by the rule book?

Both teams were wearing shorts. It would very hypocritical of one side to object after the game because the other side were wearing shorts. They would be ridiculed
If the game had gone ahead with the players wearing shorts, the referee would probably have been reprimanded, and possibly suspended by the Camogie Association for allowing the game to proceed against the rules. The CA could declare the game void and order a replay, but this is all conjecture.

I'd say they could try but their objection would be rejected as they consented to play the game. Be difficult to see that happening as it's not in the spirit of what camogie teams are looking to achieve.

So they could all end up playing at the weekend "under protest" if they are made to change, which they will no doubt. Under protest is just a cop out. They need to stand their ground and let them cancel matches.

I will be a bit vague on this for obvious reasons. A friend of mine was chatting to a camogie player last week since this blew up. This lady said that the issue had been discussed at club level and it was decided that the delegates to congress would vote for last years motion for change. At convention, the delegates sided with the status quo and voted against. I'm not saying which club or county this was, but if many delegates ignored their clubs wishes, it might help explain how last years voting was so much in favour of skorts when the vast majority of actual players actually want choice at least.
