More likely that Gillane backs into defender on edge of the square, falls down and the defender gets a black card and a penalty call for holding !

Well learn to live with it, boy! The individual players themselves are fine. I'm a good fan of Fitzgibbon, for example, as I was of JBM, Johnny Crowley, Denies Coughlan, and of course the Rock (he was great to watch) back in the day. It's not the players per se, but rather the Corkness of the whole county. The attitude of their supporters and their unawareness that many others outside of Cork also dislike Cork. And their puzzlement when they are told that, and their finding it strange that someone actually dislikes the county. I grew up in an era when it was okay to tell someone that you didn't agree with them or that you didn't even like them; none of this namby-pamby being nice, pseudo-nice, to people because of political correctness or that you might hurt their feelings. SO, learn to live with it, boy! UP LIMERICK! foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2295 - 06/06/2025 15:21:43 2615354 Link 1 |
I guess an irrelevant statement from a Yank who resides in Florida!

It's true though! Gillane has developed this into a fine art, the referee is usually 50 yards away, he sees Gillane down, and blames the big bad defender! Fair play to Gillane, he's smart and gets away with it!!

I couldn't give two hoots about who likes or dislikes us, but you are being disingenuous with your response! You said I don't like that team, which would infer that you had issue with the current players, however, you then went on waffling about Corkness, and Cork people being your reason for the dislike....Anyway, UTR!

Ryanstream do any of your boys do that kinda thing??it's every county and I've seen a good few forwards being penalised now and frees given to defenders. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2536 - 06/06/2025 16:25:18 2615380 Link 0 |
Gillane gives as good as he gets, after years of being mauled by full backs, especially Conor Cleary from Clare he has try and paint the picture for the referee. Hoggie is also expert at it (i.e. waiting for the smallest bit of contact) and he has been doing it a long time.

If the Cork team can bring half the fight the Supporters do, we will have a right cracking match :) Safe travels to anyone coming to the match LimerickandProud (Limerick) - Posts: 172 - 06/06/2025 16:58:31 2615392 Link 0 |
As long as there's a fight in the dog, we'll have a scrap! Don't take it so seriously..at the end of the day, it's a sporting occasion and enjoy it! Much gratitude to these amateur players who devote their lives to entertaining us year in and year out! Anyway, Up the rebels!!

It never worked against the wrestler Cleary from Clare though. He got a handy one the last day out off Downey though, and I even wrote that here the day after that match! He's as strong as an ox so defenders have no choice but to foul him at times!

This game is a free for all. Rules don't seem apply. dakid (Australia) - Posts: 302 - 07/06/2025 18:43:21 2615579 Link 3 |
It just goes to show that the Munster championship is more important than the actual rules of the game.. something I've been saying for a few years now. twbm (Clare) - Posts: 38 - 07/06/2025 20:01:49 2615591 Link 4 |

Dreadful. Should be a lot of retrospective suspensions, after the recent Parnell Park 'review'.

What an unbelievable sporting match. The first thing the Cork keeper done after winning the penalty shootout was to go over and shake hands with the Limerick keeper. What other sport would that happen in? Incredible stuff.

Terrible way to end a final with penalties. There are two more finals tomorrow that could also be decided this way. There is no need for penalties after one game. Add an extra week to the schedule (next week) to allow for replays. This nonsense was copied from professional soccer. Soccer is completely different from the GAA. The soccer season is more congested, players have international games to play straight after the season and club finals end, or holidays to take before club tours start. "I'll be very surprised if Limerick don't win the all Ireland now", Why? What a nonsense statement. Please enlighten me as to how you'd be shocked if Limerick don't win the AI?
