Leinster Football Championship

(Oldest Posts First)

Championship is starting Saturday/Sunday. Dublin are big favourites as usual but I think it'll be more competitive with louth meath offaly and kildare all getting a bit better. Leinster semi out of croke park which is about time. What do ye think?

The only issue is who will play Dublin in the Final?
Will it be a TC team - Kildare, Offaly or Westmeath?
Thus sending Louth to the TC.
Should Wicklow, Wexford, Longford and Carlow be consigned to an Intermediate Championship

We beat Offaly in the Leinster Championship 3 years ago and in the TC year before last. If we have to play in an Intermediate Championship then so probably would Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford Leitrim and Sligo. Which would mean you would have to amalgamate the Munster and Connacht Senior Championships to get enough games in them. You could have a 6 team Western Championship then which would be reasonably competitive once you got to the semi finals.

It is a very competitive championship excluding Dublin alright.

I think it will be Offaly Vs Dublin in one semi final with Offaly giving a decent account of themselves
I think Westmeath will beat Kildare, even if it's away for them in the quarter final, so Louth vs Westmeath in the other semi-final. I would toss a coin for that one but might go for Louth.

I still think Dublin will win it but the games will be far more competitive this time around.

I think Meath have a chance this year. They've been a bit hot and cold but weren't far off promotion to Division 1.

We've been waiting a long time for Dublin to be taken out of Croke Park for the Leinster semi finals. Finally this year. That would give Meath an extra chance.

They've a couple of games to get through first but and could slip up before they get there. But they're dangerous and can get goals so that gives them a chance.
