Always laugh at the playing at home thing from Kildare. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4504 - 16/04/2025 14:42:21 2602240 Link 2 |
The Perennial underachievers. lol ;o) Noisy neighbours just about sums them up. They remind me of a jack russell dog. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4165 - 16/04/2025 15:07:51 2602249 Link 2 |
I work with a lot of Meath people and a lot of them are expecting to beat Dublin in this upcoming semi final. Be interesting to see will such expectations will be realized. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 403 - 16/04/2025 15:51:45 2602260 Link 1 |
Think Mearh might do it too. And if Louth beat Kildare they will have some motivation going into the Leinster final, 15 years after they were denied a leinster final win. If memory serves me correctly Meath beat Dublin in the 2010 semi-final, scoring 5 goals in that game. lilywhite1 (Kildare) - Posts: 3027 - 16/04/2025 17:42:55 2602296 Link 1 |
The Dubs are definitely there for the taking this year. We are miles away from even last year - are we were poor enough last year tbh. Losing Fenton is a game changer - and add Jamesie, Jack, Mannion, Mick Fitz, Lee and Murch also. ;o( Game outside of Croker - never a better chance for meath to beat us imo. Except it's not just Kildare. Ultimately Donegal brought the motion to stop Dublin getting 2 home games in the old super 8s. Anyone in Rathcoole, Saggart or Tallaght would be quicker to Newbridge than Croke Park - so I'm not sure what your point is. brianb (Kildare) - Posts: 434 - 16/04/2025 23:07:08 2602346 Link 2 |
What about the rest of Kildare that isn't on the Sligo to Connolly line? Definitely handy for anyone from Kilcock, Maynooth, Leixlip or Confey. Newbridge is a definite advantage when you want partisan support in the smaller home ground than Croke Park.

Donegal never elected to play all their home games in Croke Park when it suited them to do so - then winged when it didnt. Hypocrisy. Im happy to accept that neither Croke Park nor Newbridge is a home or away game for either county - i dont really think id be playing away if i played in Newbridge to be honest, the borders imagery these days culturally. Its said when you think about it - the one thing that could save would be self reflection to guid improvement yet, its always some external factor and being the victim, sad. C'est La Vie TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4504 - 17/04/2025 12:13:48 2602403 Link 1 |
Your 30 mins these days with good Traffic from county Dublin to Newbridge - only Monastervein and Athy maybe a little more, we're not talking of scaling mountains or great distances here, most town in mid, certainly North Kildare - have as many Dubs as anyone native to Kildare, wont be long until the South is the same. One of the Kildare lads already pointed it out.

Anyway - away from Croke Park and back to the football. Both Leinster Semi finals are likely to be close games. brianb (Kildare) - Posts: 434 - 17/04/2025 15:00:51 2602433 Link 2 |
If Meath had their full selection available (very unlucky with injuries this year) then I'd fancy them to make this a close contest. RebelAlliance (Cork) - Posts: 33 - 17/04/2025 15:11:03 2602436 Link 0 |
You mean the free at the end? Dublin were the better team for most of that game, nearly caught napping at the end. The free was a 50/50 decision, some refs would give, others wouldn't. I would have been happy with the draw that day as I felt we had Kildare's number. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8742 - 17/04/2025 19:51:50 2602487 Link 0 |
I havnt heard 1 Meath supporter with any common sense say they expect to beat Dublin.

Hard to know where each of them are at based on League form. Dublin were fairly competitive in a league that no-one wanted to win. Meath were competitive in a league where every point mattered to avoid relegation or push for promotion. Dublin are definitely not the force of old but we can't judge them on a poor performance v Wicklow. If Meath can play for longer than a good first half v Offaly then they've a decent chance of an upset. But I think Dublin will beat them by 4 or 5 points.

as a meath fan unfortunattely i cant see any other result only a 12 point defeat or in around that. meath playing well in parts of games but way too open at back at times. i fancy kildare to beat louth. dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 822 - 21/04/2025 13:58:37 2603374 Link 0 |
