I say it was the same amount in Drawda for the Louth and Monaghan match which was a sell out.

Tyrone v Cavan USFC
6,791 in Healy Park, very poor turnout and zero atmosphere.

Continuing trend with championship games to date.

People deciding that the football Provincials (early rounds anyway) are a bit irrelevant??

Not embracing the new"exciting" game with new rules as much as Jim Gavin and the rest in the FRC had hoped

More like people are deciding that football in general is irrelevant…. Most of these ridiculous new rules are turning games into a farce..

You reckon it's not exciting?

I don't really think that is the case. If you look back over the years you'll see early rounds championship didn't draw huge crowds either unless they were 2 teams with real ambitions.

League attendances are through the roof in recent years so football is definitely not irrelevant. Supporters interest has certainly shifted away from the provincial championships in Munster and Leinster though.

I wasn't a fan of the new rules, I thought they were over complicated, impossible to referee (still inclined to think that part) but players seem to love them. The feedback at our club in hugely positive. Give them time and lets see how the championship goes.

Certainly a more exciting watch than what was inflicted on us in 2024 and previous years.

Ah will you give up trying to reason with that gasoon. Around these parts, including his home county we think he is more to be pitied than laughed at. Like yourself I agree all needs time and our club players are embracing and enjoying them.

Players really like the new rules and I think that's the most important thing. I actually think that people have gotten out of the habit of going to games. Blame it on Covid, lack of excitement that was there for the last couple of years. It's like the pub scene. People don't go out anymore. But going back to the players, they have embraced the new rules.

The price is a factor. €55 for 2 adults and 1 kid into stand in Newbridge Sunday. Added in fuel, food for the day it's an expensive day out

Same again in Tullamore Sunday week, and hopefully same again in Croke Park 2 weeks later

That's no change out of €300 in the space of a few weeks, and still with 3 games to play (at least)

In the terms of the excitement level that the FRC who have been aided with hype from the national media absolutely not.

Good that the players like the rules but this is the attendance thread and so far the bums on seats those at the top was expecting hasn't materialized

This weekend has two big local rivals faring off Cork v Kerry and Galway v Roscommon

Attendance when they last met in 2023 was 16,917 and 14, 081 such local rivals should have no issue for attracting 10k plus for a championship match to begin with and if we have such a truly exciting spectacle now then those attendance figures should be at least matched or increased this weekend.

Pairc Tailteann was fairly full, seemed more than 6k to me, atmosphere was good too. You definitely would have gotten another few thousand in mainly behind the goals and packing more into the terrace. But there was a good crowd there. Offaly travelled well too.
