Replying To boxtyburgerbuns:  "There's no way NY should be competing in football or hurling championships here. Why do they get preference over a continental european selection for example or over another US city, or Canada, or Australasia. Far easier for a best of Europe 15 to come over to play games"
Don't be like that now! Just because we have the handle on Leitrim!

Would we give Wexford a game? Would we?

Oh now I suppose Roscommon is that bit closer to America than some of Leitrim but I think the 'we' there is stretching fantasy, but if you think you live in America that's grand.

'Your' team still shouldn't be in the football or hurling championship

Interesting reading the comments about new york and their advantage. I'm not sure about monaghan but a cavan lad I work with said cavan pull from other counties too, antrim, dublin , 3 lads who have moved recently from kilkenny and waterford so they are playing the system.. should be an interesting final, unless monaghan spring a suprise

We would nearly arrive at New Yorks ground quicker than you would from where you live ;-)

Fair play for setting up an account to tell us the fascinating insights of your Cavan workmate, who definitely exists. With all these advantages we probably should have been given a bye to the semi-final as well.

Hopefully someone else, with a Monaghan workmate, will set up an account and fill us in on their advantages. Obviously someone without any New York connections whatsoever. Just interested neutral observers.

That used to be a big deal with some posters on this years ago, accusing others of having multiple accounts. Why would anyone bother having multiple accounts? What's the benefit?

It's still a thing and I usually ignore but this one ticked so many boxes.

Some people are quite insecure and like to have people agree with them or use different accounts to make certain points. Some have admitted to it and others won't but it's pretty obvious. NO way of proving it of course so no point getting worked up about it, I just thought this one was funny

Please trot along down to your next local GAA club, if you even know when and where they hold them, and go through the proper procedures to have my team not be in the football or hurling championship.

Are we not trying to promote the games worldwide among the Irish diaspora? And what do Leitrim want, but to have NY kicked out! Jaysus, ye really didn't take that bating well at all.

New York are 1/100 to win vs Monaghan tomorrow with the team they have announced. This is beyond a farce now, that this has happened

I would have no problem with NY entering the hurling championship but they should have entered at the McCarthy Cup relegation stage which would provide an opportunity for Antrim or whoever to survive at that level… putting NY into the Lorey Meagher cup is just another example of the kind of hames the GAA can make of the simplest of situations….. They really are a clueless sporting organisation…

Completely disrespectful to the teams in the competion. New York have no business playing over here at all

Aren't we the best team in Connaught, having won the Connacht League title last year? Galway can no longer be said to be part of the province since they ran off to Leinster.

So, that's the business we have of playing, being the best team in Connaught! Surely, people want to go and see the best players in action?

They should only be allowed play homegrown players like the junior football team that enters the AI junior championship, Johnny Glynn could take Monaghan on by himself and win it for NY, he's different gravy to anyone playing in the LM cup. This is a major gaff by the gaa but hopefully it will be a contest of sorts

Stop making things up. New York are 1/12 to win, Monaghan 15/2.

Wow ….. 1/12 really gives Monaghan a real chance compared to it being 1/100…. Good grief

If New York were to reach tier 1 in a few years time - would they be given a bye into the A.I semi final or would they enter at an earlier round ? Just wondering.

Oh, of course! We'd expect a bye into the A.I semi final every year. Weren't Galway hurlers afforded that curtesy for most of the 1900's? Crossing the Atlantic is a far bigger deal than crossing the Shannon.

Some win for NY there, didn't get out of 2nd gear and pulled the handbrake. Hope the GAA are happy. it's not the NY players fault, this is all on the GAA
