Monaghan, Longford, Leitrim, Fermanagh, Louth, Lancashire and Warwickshire will all spend two months playing 6 rounds of games each in wet and windy conditions, only to have New York parachute in at semi-final stage to play max of two games in the better weather and lift the cup in Croker... and this is a great idea? Great for who?
How many lads from those 7 counties will be up for committing again the following year?
If competing in all rounds of the Lory Meagher is not possible (and for US teams it isn't), then the proposal to add NY to a competition with 7 rounds and knockout is not sustainable or serious. That doesn't diminish the great work done overseas to promote the game from Boston to Bangkok and beyond. But this is a serious competition, not a PR tool.
