Cavan Seniors 2025

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just be delighted to see Cavan go out and give a performance. Forget all the shouting. The amount of shouting about 'If Mayo, ....'. Paul Flynn was an expert on Cavan before Tyrone game, putting all players in a wrong place, and now gave one line on Cavan on RTÉ today. No respect, or wanting to know. This team has given so much.

Lets see the team give it their all on the pitch tomorrow. Always better against teams out of Ulster. Open game under the mountains. A lot of players will want to show what they have. An Cabhán Abú

Cavan at the moment are a laughing stock around the country and all you hearing from media is how did they get there. I saw somewhere where Kerry 1/20 on to win. It will show where this management team are at. Do the have the backing of the team and their tactics. I'm not so sure. If these players a have any pride and care for the supporters, they will die on their feet on Saturday evening. However, I would not be surprised if its another drubbing."
Who says Cavan are a laughing stock around the country? I wouldn't pay a bit of heed to clickbait media. On the last day of a competitive league ye had a chance of promotion, finished level on points with Meath who just beat Kerry. Galligan targeted the McHale Park game and ye were well the better team on the day earning the points to get ye through to QF playoffs. Plenty of teams would find Tyrone and Donegal tough opposition. F*** the begrudgers, ye earned the right to be there this weekend. Ye're not favourites but the Kerry price is an insult to ye. Keep the head up.

There's no way they would have been beaten by 13 by Tyrone and 19 by Donegal.

Play a very exciting brand of football also. Which would make you go watch them even if they weren't going that well."
Every single time we've met them in championship this decade suggests otherwise. Last year was the biggest win for either side in half a century.
Don't let their easy run fool you!

Countrytool, I think you chosen your handle wisely.

What a disappointing post for a so-called Cavan fan. I would not question their commitment when you consider the huge sacrifices they are making to play for their county. Any team, especially a young team, can get overrun at a key stage in a game and find it slipping away. Yes, we learned cruel lessons from the last two games, and hopefulky these lessons will stand us well in the future.
Perhaps this game is coming too soon, but to have four championship games against Div 1 sides is bound to steel us as we developed.

They have earned the right to play Kerry and no game is a given. I wish them well and whatever the result, I thank them for giving us hope.

I for one love this. Tom is right to get stuck in here. We're all disappointed with today. We have to hold our hands up and say we're not good enough. The noisy neighbour putting the boot in is what local rivalry is all about. Keep it coming, Tom. I will be wearing the Jersey of whatever outfit take Monaghan down a peg or two next week, and I'm proud to say that. Let Vetern/Tom have a gloat. Neither us or Monaghan will have anything else, county wise, to show by seasons end. The rivalry between ourselves and Monaghan, as evidence of the Monaghan man's post above, is unfortunate both our level of aspiration at the minute.

Good display by Cavan in the 2nd half but our lack of scoring forwards is shocking… 5/6 starters failed to score… you haven't a snowballs chance in hell with that stat… I can see Armagh dumping this Kerry team out next weekend… they are no great shakes

Team came good after a shaky start. Great to see a bit of fight and bite in 2nd half. Fair play to players, gave their all against another 1st Division team. Need a few forward players going forward. Little scoring when looking at team. Really hoping the players stick with it. A promising but strange year, with a lot of up and down moments. Tyrone mountain still....

PS What in the world were the Commentators talking about? Tipp's Conor Sweeney only criticised Cavan, knew no players names and worried about Kerry with such passion. Swear he wanted to open the red carpet for Paudie Clifford.

Improvement in the second half. Cavan had the wind so had to have been a help. Kerry missed a lot overall. Clifford scored 3-7 and probaly missed at much. Liam Brady with a few good saves. Good save from Gavin White too. Paddy lycnh with some impressive free taking.
Cavan made a lot of basic mistakes. A lack of pace in the team which would need to be looked at going forward.

I'd be reluctant to use the word 'rivalry'.

Maybe if we had back our 5 all irelands and half of our Ulsters we could consider Monaghan a rival.

You must watch a black and white tv too. Last 60 odd years is more relevant.

No, I'm fairly sure we're unrelated. As for your season not ending like ours. You got promoted, I'll acknowledge that, but its championship you are referring to. Monaghan will end their season having defeated Louth, Clare, and Down. You won't get a cup for those wins! Therefore, our championship season will very much end in the same way, without a title of any sorts.

For a county so comfortable and confident in your team's ability you lads sure seem to spend a lot of time commenting on the Cavan forum.

Regarding Sweeney it was so noticeable. No Cavan voice on any part of the broadcast and it showed. Disappointing tbh.

I never saw a replay of the black card either. Anyone know what it was for and if it was legit?

When you see the state of Clifford's jersey after a couple of minutes I'd say he was lucky enough not to have already got one…. Clifford was unmarkable and was actually at his worst during the black card period.. We were lucky he didn't end up with 6-7 instead of 3-7….,
