Galway v Tipp in the 1987 hurling semi-final. For many years previously, the typical size crowd at a hurling semi-final had been around 20,000 but there was huge hype for this game after Tipp won Munster for the first time since 1971 and it drew a crowd of over 50,000. The atmosphere was electric and it was an enthralling, wide-open, end-to-end game. Tipp led by a couple of points with about 15 minutes to go but Galway stormed back to win by 3-20 to 2-17, which was a very high scoring game for that era.

Not the greatest spectacle but Donegal vs Derry 2011 ulster final is my favorite.
Born a few weeks before we brought SAM home in 1992, my childhood following of Donegal was filled with disappointment (apart from the odd year here or there, 2002 and 2003 spring to mind)
The atmosphere at this game was electric and to finally see my county lift the anglo celt meant a lot to me and the whole county
(I didnt get to go to the all ireland final that year...one of my biggest regrets)
The actual best game of football I see would have been 2019 Super 8s vs Kerry.
Great game, amazing scores from both sides, and we underachieved that year!

Yeah that goal should have stood
Ye were harsh done by the year before too against Down

Hurling is overall better to watch as its faster but its pretty much the same as football was for a long time, one or two teams dominating
Thank christ Limerick lost this year..
I still wouldnt watch a hurling game if it was on outside my front door tbh, never took to it, never will...hit and hope sport for me!

Leitrim v Donegal 2007 qualifiers.
Back in the Dessie Dolan Senior era in Leitrim we didn't win much but were extremely hard to beat. A time marked by last gasp winners by the opposition and hard luck stories but great memories.
Mayo beat us by 1 point in Connacht Championship where we chased down a 6 point lead they had built up. Ollie Murphy threw over a last gasp point from the sideline for Meath to force extra time which they duly won. Roscommon scored a last gasp goal to beat us by 1 point in a qualifier. But the best one:
Donegal 2007, Michael Murphy's debut. Out corner forward James Glancy scored a spectacular 77th minute volley to force extra time. Alan Shearer never scored a finer one. Carrick erupted. For a county of such limited resources (four times as many people in the football grounds than in the rest of Carrick, our biggest town, at the time for example) we absolutely were ecstatic.
It's not like others here remembering winning trophy's but that moment will always live in my memory

As a Carlowman nothing beats the Joe Mc final last year when we defeated a fancied Offaly by a point courtesy of Chris Nolan after ET.
A close second was this year when again it was our hurlers who came back to draw with The Cats in NCP when The Mouse Kavanagh scored a late free after a KK player threw the sliotar into the stand !
That shot was so tough...50 m out with a cross breeze.
Will be remembered for quite a while !

Also remember being half way out of the ground when Glancy nailed that volley into the top corner. It was a Roy of the Rovers strike and to this day I don't know how it hasn't cropped up in some YouTube reel.
That full forward ye had back then Maxwell was some operator. One of the best ball winners I've ever seen at full forward. A really underrated player who gave many a good full-back their fil of it.
