Replying To Curlew66:  "OP is referring to team selected by TSG panel on TV Sunday night. The Sunday Sport radio panel (Andy Moran, Conor McManus, Mark McHugh and Kyle Coney) picked a slightly more representative team , less influenced by the AI final.

B Hughes
J McGrath, B McCambridge, T O'Sullivan.
D Mc Hugh, A Forker, P Mogan
P Conroy, R O'Neill
S Mulroy, J Maher, O Conaty,
O Gallen, R Finnerty, C Turbitt"
Niall Morgan should get All Star for Goalkeeper this year, but he won't even make the conversation since Tyrone didn't progress. I'm no Tyrone fan, but his performances this year were off the chart, he really was the best keeper in Ireland in 2024.

In terms of player of the year, for me I think Paul Conroy definitely deserves it for the year he has had. Barry McCambridge, Rian O'Neill and John Maher would all be worthy winners too but Paul Conroy at 35 in Midfield has been brilliant and his hard work and contribution to Galway seems to go unnoticed.

I agree with you.Over the league and championship the best keeper Imo was Niall Morgan.

I wrote the following after the Connaught Final

"One man i was delighted for today was John Maher. During the league when a lot of the main men were missing i though he done trojan work (&heany) around the middle of the field even in games where Galway struggled. When the big game came today he didn't start as the main men were back. I though his introduction brought much needed drive. For a big man he has mobility, gives it all and unlucky not to get a goal today. He gets a medal today but that medal is more for those hard yards during the league."

If you are talking about Player of the year then its John Maher purely as he has done it all year from start to finish from league to championship.

They don't take National League into consideration now. In 1995 Derry got 2 All stars, this was obviously because of winning league because they were knocked out in Ulster semi final. Same in 1996, Joe Brolly got one despite losing in Ulster semi final again.

Yeah, that's the flaw in the All-Stars, it is not the best players in the country who win the All-Stars, its the best players from the counties who get to the All-Ireland finals with a couple from the semi-finals having a chance.

Why is Ryan O Donaghue not in the list for an All Star, he is the leading scorer in the Championship and played less games than other forwards on the list. If the leading scorer was from say Kerry he would be an All Star no problem.

Where is the list for an All Star you're on about?

I'm sure he'll be nominated after a very good season but he won't win one and rightly so.

Not many better in the game at winning a free although some refs have got wise too him.

1-13 of his tally, including his only goal from play came against New York. He had a very good year, but struggled a bit in the most critical game against Derry.
I'd be very surprised if he didn't get a nomination, but don't think he will get an All-Star.

Donoghue doesnt do much from play in big games other than scoring 14 yard frees on front of the goal.

Riain O'Neill is overrated. Played well in the semi final and had one or two moments in the final but he was poor throughout 2024.
