Getting into the technicalities of it there, where I tried to keep it more high level, but just to expand on that: - BBC has rights to broadcast Olympic action into all parts of the UK, including Northern Ireland. RTE doesn't have rights to broadcast Olympic action into any part of it. - BBC therefore could, if it wanted, negotiate to show in Northern Ireland all Olympics action featuring Northern Irish competitors. - BBC hasn't done so. Bottom line is that under the way broadcasting rights are divvied out between different countries/jurisdictions, RTE link show any Olympics action in Northern Ireland, no mater how much it might want to. The BBC could show it there, but are choosing not to. Hence my question about why RTE are taking the flak here, and not BBC. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2622 - 29/07/2024 12:36:56 2562565 Link 1 |
Disappointing outcome for the women in the Rugby 7s. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2622 - 29/07/2024 14:38:24 2562655 Link 0 |
Not so disappointing for the Rugby 7s after all, as I've since learned that they go through as one of the best third-placed teams..... Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2622 - 29/07/2024 15:55:13 2562700 Link 0 |

They really put in up to one of the strong favourites Australia today and were over the line for another try but for a knock- on. Beaten only by 5 points. Unfortunately they are drawn against Australia again tonight in the quarter final at 9.30pm (21.30) Irish time. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 633 - 29/07/2024 16:56:26 2562720 Link 0 |
You can only award a penalty try if a provable try would have been scored but for doul play. Running down the click or slowing down the play isn't that. Ref can card multiple player if they deem necessary

Yeah fussiest are top class They hammered the other teama they played in group as well. We went close in group but just outclassed Aussies or kiwis will win gold Did you watch the swimming. KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3674 - 29/07/2024 22:22:11 2562794 Link 0 |
Incredible race from Mona, hearty congrats to her. Absolutely buzzing. Great day for Sligo and Ireland. Sligonian (Sligo) - Posts: 1719 - 29/07/2024 22:28:40 2562801 Link 0 |
Yeah we were well put back in our box. The mess-up was losing to GB as that cost them a chance to play the USA who I think they could beat but its hard to look past an Aussie, Kiwi final. That's a hard one to call.

Why so negative. Irelandwin a medal and you comment on them losing a game they weren't expected to win. Aussies are one of a few teams very clear of rest KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3674 - 30/07/2024 06:51:49 2562829 Link 0 |
A monumental moment for Mona is what you mean I'm sure, just that your negativity as usual got in first

Not a negative comment a realistic comment which you seem unable to comprehend…. The swimming was a great achievement, fair play to her… It will be great if Wiffen can handle the pressure on him… I think he has it in him…

D'ye know something.... I'd say you are without doubt the most miserable, most critical, most negative person who has ever posted on HS. If - and this is a big 'if'- Cavan were ever to win an All-Ireland, you'd be complaining that the Sam Maguire cup wasn't polished to a high enough sheen for the occasion. Do you ever stop whinging and carping and criticising?? I'd say you are a nightmare to live with. Now, you have a nice day. avonali (Dublin) - Posts: 1990 - 30/07/2024 10:03:14 2562874 Link 1 |
Where was I negative about mona and her achievemwnt. I commented on a troll wumming and putting a petty jibe at eugby instead of commenting on the positive of a medal and same with you. You go on attack me saying I'm negative when I praised the swimmer and the medal while criticising someone being negative. Don't be a hypocrite KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3674 - 30/07/2024 10:18:28 2562880 Link 0 |
You must not have a clue about sport if you expected our women to beat the Aussies

I'd say you are a nightmare full stop…. The rugby team got whacked…so what.. do you think that's great or something… we got our first medal which is as I said great but we still got whacked in the rugby.. accept it or not…although you seem to love failure and mediocrity… I don't…now have a nice day good lad .
