Jack. Plays for county team. Yeah if you were picking the 10 best players in terms of form over the both codes this year, he'd get in.

Jack's not a regular starter for the county team Beano. He's a sub.

Great win for Castletown all the same, down to 14 but managed the second half really well.

then he still plays for the county team so the statement is correct

If he was "one of the 10 best players across both codes in the county this year" then why wasn't he starting on a team that plays one code in a game which starts off with 15 players in each team on the pitch?

Replying To beano:  "An unbelievably gutsy performance from Castletown, especially in the second half. Tackled like demons and had some work-rate playing with a player less. Scrappy game but shut down Gusserane's vaunted attackers (didn't score from play) and stymied Sheehan's runs up the field too. Hard to know what Gusserane were at not pumping ball inside more given they had the man advantage, but Castletown were so ravanous they probably wouldn't have created much either way.

Thought Higgins was excellent for the winners and is perhaps in the top 10 best players across both codes on the club scene at the minute. Heffernan pushed him very close for MOTM too, and just collectively the team display far outshone Gusserane.

Mad to think that last year the shoe was on the other foot- Castletown had the extra man for the whole match and lost by an injury-time point, with today's centre-back and captain Colin Kennedy a huge loss in the middle (and questionable referring decisions). Could conceivably have three-in-a-row, but happy with 2 outta 3."
Yeah funny the difference and contrast of fortunes in a year. This year Castletown down to 14 and win. and i'm delighted to see that there doesn't seem to be any querying of the refs decisions this year either. I didn't see the incident myself (for the red card) but I heard from a few it was clear cut.
Was at the game on saturday too and i thought overall the refereeing in the three games in the park this weekend was very good. which was badly needed after the previous few weeks. but credit where it is due.

His first year proper on the county panel. The young lad has lit up the championship in both codes. A special talent and has shown his best since the county football finished up.

Fair play to Castletown winning the double. One of the most consistent clubs in the past 10 years. Even if no one likes them!

heard that Castletown appealed Bealins red card but were unsuccessful. any truth in that? Can blame them for trying as they had nothing to loose in appealing it. Doubt it will make much difference tomorrow night though.

Match fixed for this Sunday in Mullingar, meaning their hurling QF is pushed to a different date now depending on the result.

Not alone had the players travelled, many of the supporters had already arrived in Mullingar too.
