Not just some random 'chap' though, is it???

Former inter-county footballer who was on a professional Aussie Rules contract makes return to his home club for this year's championship. I'd consider that the most significant news from that match.

I stand to be corrected, but to the best of my knowledge, the only other time he's played for St. Martin's since he left for Australia was when he came on as a sub for the second half of their senior relegation final v Bunclody in 2022.

News that he's back and apparently available for the entire championship therefore remains significant.

Anyway, fact that there's no byline on that match report suggests it's one of the matches that they didn't actually have a reporter at, and were relying on details sent in by the clubs in order to put a piece together. I regularly do that for them myself for some of my own club's matches, as it's a regular struggle for them to actually get a reporter to every match. If you think you know how to write a 'proper' match report yourself, am sure they'd love to hear from you.

Interesting viewpoint, by the way.

Don't know. I only know the bit that I read in the paper, that says he'll be available for the championship. Could be the case that he plans to return to Australia after that.

Have stated this already but disappointed with the football coverage so far. Wexford GAA only showing one game last weekend, hardly any highlights on social media, no chat like they used to have between a few former players during the week leading up to the games.

I know hurling has been similar albeit I think they showed two games? Anyone know whats going on wit Wexford GAA TV this year so far?? Why the lack of games been shown? Demand is surely there looking at last years figures.

Few things I can think of include the venues being chosen for senior matches aren't suitable for streaming. Even in Wexford park there is construction work ongoing which hampers it. Also, in hurling championship the group matches are less important and I'm told in the football demand is way below what would be required to justify doing lots of group games.

Yeah, I heard some while back that for many of the group football matches that were streamed last year, there was no more than a couple of dozen streams actually sold. The demand for football in particular is nowhere near as large as some people seem to think.

Also that for the few hurling matches streamed this year in the first two rounds, that demand was way down on previous years. Most likely a consequence of the new structure, where everybody goes through anyway, and so there's nothing hugely important riding on the games in the early rounds in particular.

Would expect streaming to be ramped up when things reach the knockout stages, but that remains to be seen.

Are Glynn starting to look like serious contenders? Instead of a top 3 have we now got a clear top 5, Gusserane also included.

Couple of shock results alright.Fair play to Crossabeg and Bunclody in fairness I'd say nobody seen them results coming. I thought that the abolishment of the split season would bring the top teams back to the pack a bit alright. Still very early doors yet so wouldn't be getting carried away. St Anne's look to be struggling big time all the same but you couldn't write them off picking up a result. Gorey got a win yesterday too

Yep and intermediate looking competitive also, surprise with Fintans pulling off a draw with The Martins. Ferns, clongeen, Rosslare and Taghmon under a bit of early pressure.

that gorey team has great promise if they put their minds to it, if they were to make the 1/4s and they start to focus they could do well

All very low scoring games in senior results so far in round 2. Are all teams set up defensively or just poor quality?

The 4 you'd of picked before the start, along with Fintans, who in fairness have looked very good so far.
