Well what did Cork beat in their four in a row. Dublin three times and Antrim once.

After Cork went 7 points up, Clare took over, and in truth should have won by more. Ultimately Cork didn't do enough to win that match in my opinion and Clare certainly did. Clare are deserving Champions simple as that LimerickandProud (Limerick) - Posts: 94 - 25/07/2024 13:27:30 2561488 Link 1 |
I'm glad you were there mr oldtourman. You got to see some great hurling, and surely relished the excitement as we all did. Be good if you were to shed your obvious resentment of Cork though… it's a burden for you to carry!

Are we going back to 1940's now? You certainly live up to your name. Mr Old. Tourman

Yes ,Williams is a promising QB. I also enjoy many sports… boxing, UFC as well. Since I came out to USA decades ago, sport is a great outlet. GAA is essential to Ireland, and as John Mullane said recently, with the demise of the Catholic religion, GAA is the only true remaining Irish culture !

Would be great if the language would take off countrywide also. But sadly that's as unlikely as hurling spreading all over the country.

I'd be reasonably sure they are in the minority but in saying that it is ok for us to celebrate, acknowledge and admire what they have achieved to date without being branded.

I found all bar maybe two Limerick posters to be quite humble to be honest

Limerick lads here have been very humble in fairness. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 26/07/2024 12:20:26 2561712 Link 0 |

And why not, afterall one was going to games long most of you lads were born. Apart from all that many of those 30 All Irelands Ye are always bragging about were won long before 1940. Anyway why not mention those iconic LK/CK battles of the late thirties/ early Forties, as they were recalled as the Gold Standard for decades. No less a neutral Giant of the game than Pat Stakelum called to mind the 40 and 44 draws and replays In 2007 and said the quality of the Hurling in those games had never been reached in the intervening years. Honestly, I have to admit I have seen a small number of Limerick "Bandwagoners" who have and are still out there giving us all a bad reputation with their trash talk. Those genuine supporters following Limerick for years, are a humble bunch who can hardly believe what Limerick have done in the last 5 or 6 years. We remember too clearly, some very dark days where it really really hurt and understand how quickly things can turn for better or worse. I would have to agree with you. The progression and excitement of our game today lies in the history and adoration of the past. Debate, comparisons, disagreements and remembrance of heroes gone past are the foundation under the great spectacle and teams we love and cherish in the year of our Lord 2024 and will exist in 3024.

Sunday Game would be better off showing the hurling highlights again than the puke ball on show today. Desperate stuff. bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4643 - 28/07/2024 20:38:02 2562324 Link 1 |
Facts. Congrats to Armagh but football is a tough watch these days. Amazing that Clare and Armagh won the titles this year. That would have been some double LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 28/07/2024 22:00:42 2562370 Link 0 |
Dry your eyes and congratulate Armagh in winning a hard fought All Ireland against the odds. There's been plenty of horrible hurling finals through the years too.

Congrats to Armagh yesterday but this was dire stuff to watch. They could have just played the last 10 mins at the end rather that playing 76 mins of it, it was so bad. Only that is was close made it exciting. When coaching U6 - U10 you ask the kids to stick to their zones to avoid bunching. This is what is currently going on in Gaelic Football, 30 players inside the 45, no players willing to take on shots for fear of a wide and giving possession back to the opposition. Galway went the last 5 mins passing without taking a risk earlier to shoot and if they missed they would have had one more opportunity. Ultimately it cost them as they hit the post. Rule changes need to brought in urgently. The hurling championship has taken all the media attention this season and I'd imagine although way more football matches has probably bought in a similar amount of revenue with big crowds. journeyman (Limerick) - Posts: 141 - 29/07/2024 12:10:59 2562550 Link 0 |
