Replying To Drax_the_destroyer: "Four favourties would have been favourties regardless however had every team two weeks to prepare a possibility of shock result or two was more likely and would be near certain that we'd get four competitive Quarter finals. I fear the opposite will happen with the scheduling advantage for the four group winners." At least with the group winner getting a week off it makes for some jeopardy in the group stages, an incentive to win the group. Otherwise just have top two straight to quarter finals with top team getting home advantage in order to maintain an incentive to top the group.

I think the best way to do it is to continue the way it except for 1 tweak. Change groups 1st game to be seed 1 v seed 4 and seed 2 v 3. 2 winners play for top. Two losers play for third. No need for a third game and use the extra tme created to give an extra week break before QF.

Replying To Kerry15: "Armagh v Roscommon…Armagh by 5 Dublin v Galway…Dublin by 1 Donegal v Louth…Donegal by 8 Kerry v Derry…Kerry by 3" Very accurate . Ok only 3 out of 4 winners correct. But cumulatively only 5 points off which is really good across 4 games.

Replying To anotheralias: "The 2 games with real intrigue are the first and last.
Armagh v Roscommon. I have a suspicion that Ros could do it. They are a bit of a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde ( or should it be Dr Hyde in their case) but if they bring one of their good days to Dublin ,I give them a great chance. Armagh are over-rated and should have been beaten well by a very average Galway team, but they have talent. They also may come out of their shell a bit more against a Roscommon team who they will feel that they are superior to. If Armagh do this and Ros bring their A game , I hope for a high scoring classic and a Ros win.
Kerry v Derry : This also has the makings of a classic. Kerry are the real deal but have been untested so far. Derry ( a bit like Roscommon) need to bring their A game. I'm hoping that Derry have got rid of some of the dirty petrol and are firing on all cylinders now, and if so could put it up to Kerry in another potentially high scoring game. Hoping for a Kerry victory though, as I want to keep watching their brilliance for another couple of games.
Dublin v Galway and Donegal v Louth. I can only see one winner in each of these 2 games. I think that Dublin are over-rated and wont win the AI but the styles of play mean that I cant see Galway coming close unless they change tactics dramatically . Not sure how good Donegal actually are and I would have fancied Galway to take them , but cant see Louth doing it. The only question for me in these games is will the winners put in statement performances or will they amble through keepong their opponents at arms length. The best I can hope for is that Louth and Galway at least come out to play and give it a lash , rather than set up to,effectively , keep the scoreboard respectable with no real chance of an upset." I could hardly have called it worse. 2 games of "intrigue" were terrible. Roscommon possibly will point to the Red card , but in truth they really brought their B game,. Kerry/Derry was mildly entertaining for a while because of the closeness and also to see that David Clifford's effect can be reduced when he is heavily marked by a physical player. The other 2 games were much better. I think that was because both Louth and Galway had a cut. If Louth were a bit sharper and had avoided the concession of he goal it could have been much closer and we would be talking today about a really really good game. Galway Dublin had the closeness and was a really really good game.
