Replying To ElGranSenor: "Naas only lost by three points to Na Fianna in last year's Leinster SF, you'd think the Martin's should go close on the basis of yesterday's win" Na Fianna hammered Naas last year. Not even close. Which is one of reasons why some of us made tidy few pound backing Martins yesterday.
Any of teams left might win.

Joking obviously but wasn't as close as the final score looked.
Having county lads is big advantage when it comes to this.

Replying To MyOhMi: "Went to both Senior / Intermediate Leinster games .. St Martins did well and as others said David Codd was immense and Jack O got through a lot of work. I did think this was a banana skin for St Martins and i'm delighted that they have won it and move on - There is a Leinster Championship there for the taking. Na Fianna are no Ballyhale but I do think home venue is a huge advantage to them. Rory will be double marked every day so it will be up to others to get their scores.
Rathnure ground out a win against Commercials too - far from spectacular but got the job done. The difference a week makes - their first four shots on Saturday were marginally wide while in the county final they nailed the first four. I don't think they ever really looked under pressure but the big blight was straight red to AJ Redmond. Bray Emmets next weekend who have contested the last two Intermediate Leinster finals so they are a decent outfit." I think suggesting a leinster championship is there for the taking is a bit of a stretch. Beating na Fianna in Parnell would be a serious achievment and then you'd probably be facing KK in the final who made very light work of Gorey in Wex park last year. The Martins certainly have a chance but id have them in 3rd place in the pecking order at the minute -
Na Fianna KK Martins Castletown G ( and this is probably discounting completely the unbelievable result they pulled off at the weekend)

Having seen the Martins throughout the championship and Na Fianna, I would be suprised if St Martins get within 7 points hope I'm wrong though, be great to see them get to a provincial final.

Yeah I would agree with that , Na Fianna have a very balanced team, Donal Burke is not hurling to anything near his best at the minute either. I think the softer conditions will go against the likes of Rory O C, the quicker the ball he gets the more damage he would do and space he would find. Parnell is tight at the best of times also. They need another big performance from Jack O in the half forward line to compete for aerial ball. Liam Rushe is the general there for Na Fianna, the martins need to find a way around him. The club championship is great entertainment for all during these winter months.

Replying To Pikeman96: "@StoreysTash - just on your point about Electric Picnic weekend and your suggestion to play all matches on the Thursday, because either you simply don't understand or else you haven't thought it through properly.
There are 30 matches in each round of championship group fixtures (six each in the five grades from Senior down to Junior 'A'). So, to play them all on the same night instead of over the course of Friday evening/Saturday/Sunday, among the things you'd need that evening would be:
- 30 venues. Say three of them are Wexford Park, St. Patrick's Park, and COE. This means 27 club pitches in use, at a time when those clubs have one, two or even three matches of their own at different venues. You're asking those clubs to provide people at their own ground for things like car parking, looking after the dressing rooms, operating the scoreboard, running the shop if they have one, etc., instead of being able to go look at their own team play.
- At least 54 match officials on duty. 30 referees, and even if you only provide linesmen for senior matches, 24 linemen. Or 48 linesmen (meaning 78 match officials total) if you want to provide linesmen for Intermediate matches too.
- At an estimate, anywhere from 60 to 80 gate people. You'd get away with one at some venues, but would need three, four or five at others.
- Clubs having matches for their first and second teams at exactly the same times and at different venues. So for example, a junior player who might be brought on for the seniors/intermediates has to choose which match to go to, or have that decision made for him.
- Also consider the impact on the underage games programme. Thursday night is normally a full round of U14 matches. They couldn't go ahead that week. Other underage GAA sides, and girls/women's sides couldn't train that night either in the venues being used for matches.
And they're just some of the more obvious things that come to mind straight away. I could add several others too.
If Electric Picnic really is such a big deal for the minority of club players who harp on about it, I suggest they'd be better off lobbying the Electric Picnic organisers to hold it in June instead, before the club championships start at all." Yes, logistically it is not a runner to have all those games on Thursday. But, it should be a weekend off GAA activities in my opinion. The date is known before a fixture is planned. I have sons who will be playing adult in a few years time. I doubt very much they won't miss the biggest music festival of the year over a hurling or Gaelic football match. You and others are saying "suck it up" worked in your day, and mine. But times are different now, we need to make sure the offering accommodates what they want, otherwise you will have the unedifying sight of players just shrugging their shoulders as they head off with the tent under their arm. Different times, the world is bigger than the village.

Replying To Bon: "It is indeed. A Fantastic competition." Donal Burke had a horrific hamstring injury in fairness to him, takes a long time to get right after it comes off the bone, the two Currie brothers are very very good hurlers too and young Stacey who all happen to be forwards.
Martins have a right chance, but the performance against Naas wouldn't be enough to beat Na Fianna in my opinion.

I really hope they learnt something from the way their last 2 opponents set up. Being at both games they were over preoccupied with limiting Martins scoring and went away from what got them to where they were. Martins need to be brave. They have good backs with Senior and underage intercounty experience. They have scorers from the halfback line to the full forward line. Hopefully Jacko can come into the game relaxed and not overthink things and freeze. With it being in the Nell I'd have NF slight favourites, but it really is there for Martins to go out and win the game, if they are brave enough on the pitch, and maybe more importantly on the line.

On the electric picnic weekend surely it could be accommodated on the fixtures . Half a year training and lads have to choose its not that bad they are not committed it's they want a life too. If you choose picnic the guilt and the reaction from some ah he's not committed or a good clubman leaves a mark on player and club team etc . A long time ago when I was playing I had bought tickets for concert and was going away for the weekend with my mates so looking forward to it . Bank holiday weekend August everything set up 22 years old enjoying all aspects of life . Oops there is a senior hurling on that weekend hopefully Saturday and I can go after match just miss one night . But Oh no match fixed for Sunday evening at 7pm . Missed it all back then pubs closed at 10 pm and reopened at 12. . The whole weekend was gone as would never honour before games . My mates went as not gaa players had the best weekend ever it seems still talk about it to this day . I missed out as was a committed player if I knew then what I know now I might have went . You can't relive your life in hindsight . What did I get for my commitment every adlt player surely asks tgat question at some stage . Point I m making is for gods sake give the lads the chance to live too that ican be accommodated why not picnic . Take out the extra hurling round and after next year fleadh could be a floating free week If we ever get further then 1/4 final it can be accommodated god forbid we ever get to a final the club player will have no clue of games or when to peak etc .
