They will beat bunclody. The jimmies are an aging team and I say they will know that this is there last chance(with Hanlon going next year). They will be hard to beat. Outside of hanlon and murphy(when he is on form)they don't have any really outstanding hurler but they are a very solid team who always show up and make life really difficult for any team they play. I think they are the second best team in the division at the moment. I fully expect them to win Saturday and give rathnure an almighty fright in the final. hunting (Wexford) - Posts: 1021 - 30/10/2024 08:32:31 2577554 Link 0 |
Did anyone go to the event in the Spiegeltent last night? OpenStandWall (Wexford) - Posts: 144 - 30/10/2024 12:04:49 2577584 Link 0 |
Agree 100%. The Barrons, Mcphillips, Walshes and Colum Fitzgerald can all hurl.

Did Fethard throw in the towel or what's going on? I thought they were appealing?

I believe Leinster dismissed their appeal earlier in the week. Fethard do have the option of going further with it, but overall, I'd say the chances of overturning the decision of the "heavy hitters" are slim. Looks like Wexford GAA are going ahead with Bunclody v St. James' on Saturday anyway. It's advertised on Facebook etc., and tickets are listed for sale on the website. Even if Fethard's chances of overturning the option are slim, what happens if they do? Especially if Bunclody v St. James' goes ahead. The whole process is a mess, and I'm not just taking about in Wexford, this could happen in any county. It seems that the Wexford County board are desperate to have a representative in the Leinster Championship, before due process has been completed.

Monageer v Liam Mellows: Think Liam Mellows are hungry for the double this year, hard to know how celebrating will affect them. Think they will have too much running for Monageer. Liam Mellows by 3 WexMurph (Wexford) - Posts: 239 - 02/11/2024 19:02:11 2577979 Link 0 |
Perhaps just the matches then :)

Very much looking forward to the senior. No skin in the game as such but I'm glad it's coming back to the south of the county. Martin's on paper are the best team in Wexford. Almost all their panel has played county at some level. They could do something in Leinster. I quite like the Anne's. A magnificent example of a small rural club that do things very well in both codes. Mogie and Dee have been fantastic servants to Wexford. I'd be happy to see them finish up with a county medal. May the best team win Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3142 - 03/11/2024 09:14:57 2578056 Link 0 |
Great intermediate a final. You'd have to feel it's one that Monageer let slip. Had chances, probably needed to be more direct as they had good forwards and over passed it. To be fair strange that one of their points wasn't given when it went over bar and the ref blew for a square ball. But on the other side they got a sideline ball which Peter Mernagh scored in normal time which was clearly a Castletown ball so worked out in the end. alwaysasub (Wexford) - Posts: 444 - 03/11/2024 14:01:10 2578100 Link 0 |
Rory the difference between the two teams

Yeah as a non-neutral I thought that square ball call was peculiar too but I'll take it. Today was the cumulation of the journey after a couple of back-to-back heartbreaking losses in the final for Mellows- by a point AET to the Rock, and in last-gasp circumstances to Horeswood the following year. Those lads gave every ounce of it. In fairness, Fenlon had so much room in the first half to pick off three points, but Mellows shut him down thereafter. I think Monageer only scored twice from play from the second half onwards. After lauding him last week as one of the top ten dual players in the county, Higgins turned it on again with another MOTM performance. Everything went through him. And it was fitting that Halpin got the winning point too as he has been outstanding all year. Actually thought the inter A game was better than the senior, that promised so much but didn't live up to the billing. The goal was befitting of the final. Rory O the difference, but thought O'Leary, Dempsey and Barrett were all brilliant too. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1455 - 03/11/2024 15:50:31 2578136 Link 0 |
First half was dire. Improved in second half but Martins always had a response to anything St Anne's threw at them. Deserving winners.

The martins wer that bit better and sharper had bit of bite in their tackling snd workrate was huge . Anne's needed goal or 2 but never really looked like getting any . Looked sharper and crsper in most things they did . Anne's can thank dee for keeping them in the game he got on load of ball when he sat deep read it well . When he pushed out the field they looked vulnerable. Rory was always a worry for annes and caused havoc . Formertownie (Wexford) - Posts: 299 - 03/11/2024 17:28:34 2578165 Link 0 |
Annes sat too deep. Spent alot of the game with only Mogie in the Martins half. If they had of been more positive, or had more confidence in themselves, they might have got over the line. Jacko was pretty ordinary for most of the game, though in fairness he put alot of effort in when he didnt have the ball, and took the chance he was given for the insurance point well at the death. Rory was very good. Barry is making a difference for them also. The goal was a shocker, and killed the momentum the Annes were building at the time. Strangely muted crowd, not much atmosphere there tbh. Big crowd in, so was expecting more noise!! Overall Martins deserved their win, I'll probably go up to support them against Naas!
