Replying To supersub15: "SaffronDon, I don't want to appear as if I'm nit picking but if you refer back to and read supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 2946 - 10/07/2024 22:46:33 you will clearly read I have already answered in full and with clarity all your questions/concerns/doubts, with one exception which was the word "Embarrassing" I used that word simply because I couldn't find a more appropriate or fairer one to describe the issue I was referring to, like where did their chance go in reaching the final as soon as England scored their equalizer.? Now I put that question back to you, and I would really appreciate an honest and air tight answer with some clarity. I'll give you a bit of help to get you started, like, where did their structured game go, why did their short passing go askew, why was their long passes way off target, why was saka given acres of space to create first touch chances and create opportunities almost at will, now that is a good start for you." You still have made no attempt to answer my question, etc, etc, etc. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3051 - 12/07/2024 22:03:36 2558635 Link 0 |
You've treated my questions like pot holes while repeating a pointless question that I've already covered in my previous post. You clearly just wanted a moan on behalf of you hero Ronaldo, initially. We'll leave it there then.

That's fair enough, I've no problem with that, to your credit I couldn't help but notice you have used the word "moan" when you could have easily used the word "Winge" as a sporting gesture I will willingly replace the word "Embarrassing" with the word "Disappointing" Take care and enjoy the final.

The eras when The Netherlands were a very dangerous outfit will not include the current era, when the history of Dutch football is being discussed in 50 years time. They weren't embarrassing or disappointing, or particularly surprising in any way. They were what they are, or very close to it anyway imo.

It is actually hard to believe that looking back the French have won just one major tournament throughout his 10 year tenure (I say "just", obviously even one is a great achievement),,I feel like they've been dominating and I was sure it was at least 2. He did however come very close in 16 and 22. Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 14/07/2024 07:13:21 2558875 Link 0 |

England were favoured to win the semi, and England won the semi.

By nature, and unlike yourself I am an underdog always have been and probably always will be therefore I look at games and analyse them in a completely different way than most of who don't carry the tag of being the underdog. Sportingly I accept defeat providing I / we did what was best to be victorious other than that I find it difficult to accept defeat without serious questions being asked in the wake of defeat, I have seen important games being lost through small simple issues that were taken and controlled by the opposition, things like losing concentration, short passes going askew, failing to deliver a long pass with reasonable accuracy, and there is lots of other bits and pieces that could be tightened up on, in reality lads don't necessarily have to play on a super team to put does kind of things right. I was kicking every ball with the Netherlands the other night believe it or not, conceding that goal to England was one thing but the timing of it was a sucker punch. Had the game gone to extra time the Netherlands could very well have dug deep and brought it to a penalty shootout and then who knows what way it would have gone. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3051 - 14/07/2024 13:39:12 2558952 Link 0 |
A few hours from now it'll all be decided, the hysteria among some of my friends at the prospect of England winning is bloody comical, should be a good one. Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 14/07/2024 17:50:13 2559012 Link 0 |
Hysteria? It's sad and pathetic that certain Irish people can get so worked up about England.

A lot of over hyped teams but the best team outright won it thankfully. Even with injuries to key players. Delighted for Spain. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8155 - 14/07/2024 22:51:51 2559147 Link 0 |
