Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "You are missing the point… teams are less likely to go for goals with this ridiculous 2pt rule available.. Kerry will always create goals and the 4 in the Leinster Final were the result of woeful defending by 2 seriously average teams… Louth wouldn't have a chance of any of those goals against a top team… A couple of those goals were also seriously soft penalty decisions"
I might be missing the point (you keep moving the goalposts), but the teams are scoring the goals.

The 2 point rule has its positives and negatives, but at the moment its is generally positive, so is good addition.

While all the rule "enhancements" have had a impact, the biggest one has to be the combination of handing back the ball, solo and go and 50m penalty for blocking the solo and go.

All ****housery has been eliminated, which resulted in all 3 provincial finals going right to the wire as the opposition couldnt start play acting, holding up the ball, starting rows etc to slow down the opposition who were chasing the game.

The one thing I would change in the morning is crossing back over the halfway line once you are up in attack - Louth did it a fair few times on Sunday when Meath pushed out to win the ball back - soft options like that let teams hold onto the ball handpassing around the place.
I would also make sure you cant handpass it back to the guy who just handpassed it to you.

So far the rules have had a positive effect and I wouldn't "change anything in the morning"!
A ban on moving the ball back into your own half I agree would result in making ball retention more difficult but could it also result in forcing players to take on ridiculous shots for points because they have no out ball. I think the balance at the moment is not bad.
Solo and Go is a big plus but referees are sometimes allowing the player to go first and then solo which is a big advantage. The rule clearly states "solo immediately"!

A free is given…. hand the ball back to your opponent ( like a child ) who then can toe tap the ball ( like rugby ) and then run into the guy who handed it to him and low and behold the man with the whistle decides to bring the ball up 50 meters… You can then bring the ball back outside this new arc and kick a free worth 2 points.. Such nonsense… It's no longer Gaelic football… it's some sort of a soft rugger type mix of a game…!!!!

Shouldn't be called Gaelic football anymore as it's obviously some sort of hybrid rugger type of sport… all thanks to the great FRC…!

You commit foul play, yes, you are rightly punished. Handing the ball back effectively takes you out of the game, so you will think twice about fouling after that. If you choose to foul, accept the penalty. If you don't make an effort to get out of the way of course it is brought up 50m, its easy to step to one side quickly and just chase back. If the solo and go player deliberately goes to run into you, he is (should be according to rules) penalised for feigning a foul. I don't think you are cut out to watch gaelic football if its upsetting you this much. Embrace change and don't become an outdated relic.

You must be some type of relic yourself as you posted the same thing 3 times… Solo and go needs to be tided up or it's too easily exploited… Handing the ball back is nothing short of laughable , even the ladies don't have to lower themselves to do that…
