Christy Ring was a selector on the 3 in a row team in 1970's. Christy never managed a team.

I didn't get a chance to see what happened after the Waterford v Clare game until just now on the Sunday game. Davy gave us some great days down here, and got us to a Leinster title which we haven't been near since but the man needs a ban after that. Really badly let himself down there, and heard him on the radio snap at Aisling O'Reilly telling her not to ask stupid questions too. Whipping boys Munster are definitely not Waterford who took Clare close today. They missed Prunty badly. Limerick vs Waterford is intriguing next weekend… no draw please.if Waterford win, Limerick exit!

The umpire did not have clue who put the ball out. He was going to wave it wide. Cusack is wrong this time. A terrible way to be possible knocked out. A square ball with Tipp. Now this umpire plus a blatant 65 in the first minute as the Clare goalie clearly put the ball wide. No discussion about that. Conceding four goals is bad but that does not mean you should be cheated out of a result. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 2868 - 20/05/2024 09:17:30 2545741 Link 0 |

I was talking about all-Ireland finals in my lifetime, so none of these years ticked both of those boxes.

Your arguing that you were done by a correct decision. For what it's worth, the umpire was going to wave it wide but then, at least to my observation seem to be instructed by the referee to give a 65. We give out about officials not working together and then we give out when they do. Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1467 - 20/05/2024 09:51:59 2545754 Link 1 |
Canurk I thing ye deserved a result but it clearly was put out by Tadgh De Burca so it was a 65 s Clare squandered several points by Kelly Duggan Ian Galvin and Fitzgerald in closing stages, now I think you would have to admit penalty was soft he was going down early I do admit Ryan put a hand in but still soft. Ye have a very good team and I would not rule out a result with Limerick unfortunately small margins can decide games but no way would I agree ye were cheated out of a result it was definitely a 65 clooney (Clare) - Posts: 960 - 20/05/2024 10:00:26 2545758 Link 0 |
Umpire hadn't a clue,he was going to wave wide, then awarded 65,I wonder did he get told via earpiece by the referee that it was a 65,I thought it was wrong that the placing of the ball wasn't corrected, people saying it wudnt of made a difference, that's not the point, rules are rules,it's amazing the difference that 1 point has made to the standings....

The umpire got the decision correct. You really see the attitude that match officials are up against here. They get the decision correct and yet they are still criticised. Amazing. Of course there were genuine (unlike the late 65) decisions that went against Waterford. Just as if we were to rewatch the game there were decisions that went for Waterford too. Just like in every game of hurling that has ever happened. You get some decisions in your favour that you shouldn't and you get some decisions against you that you shouldn't in every single game. Kilkenny's goal on Saturday could have been ruled out for steps. It wasn't. But I'm sure a KK fan could point to decisions that went against them throughout the game. Referees and umpires are doing their best but reactions like Davy's yesterday and the support he gets for it is wrong. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13779 - 20/05/2024 10:11:35 2545767 Link 1 |
On the 65, it was the correct call. Would people prefer he gave an incorrect call? How would that be fairer? It was a 65 and Clare were awarded it. He looked like he was going to wave a wide, but seemed to get a nod from the linesman or ref that it was a 65. That sounds like good officiating. Waterford aren't knocked out. If they play to the levels they have shown to date and cut out some of the errors, they can give it a right rattle. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2187 - 20/05/2024 10:18:03 2545769 Link 1 |

That's a bit strong Canuck. I don't think you were cheated out of a result. It was a 65. If it had of been waved wide then Clare would've been cheated out of a result though.

I have to say credit to Clare and Waterford for treating us to an old school Munster Championship match Yesterday. It had everything, tension, drama and some class scores by both sides. Waterford were exceptionally dogged and kept coming back after Clare tried to bury them a couple of times. I am certainly a lot more concerned/apprehensive about playing them this weekend, than I would have been before. LimerickandProud (Limerick) - Posts: 94 - 20/05/2024 10:25:01 2545775 Link 0 |
I don't agree much with Davy or his antics. The umpire was wrong and made a guess. Had his hands ready to wave it wide. Then changed his mind. You have not mentioned the first 65 if the goalie did not put it wide would have gone in the net. The ref has a tough job but allowing these guys decide games is time out. Plenty of electronic ways to collect scores and a decisions like these need review.

Cheated???? Did the ref put the ball in your net 4 times? I thought if anything the ref gave ye soft frees all day. Long the penalty was very dubious considering the Waterford player was throwig himself to the ground before the tackle. Please also dont nit pick certain decisions. There was a blatent dive in the first half by a Waterford player where is faked head contact to win to a free that ye scored. I understand ye are frustrated as i feel we were there for the taking yesterday but ye couldnt do it and cant expect to win conceeding 4 goals and for that ye only have yourselves to blame not anyone else.
