What about the 65 in the first minute that would have ended up in the net if not put out and yere man deciding the Tipp game. Mistakes happen and it is too easy to say it evens out. It does not if bad decisions puts you in or out. There is no excuse for not making an attempt to corrrct errors how games are officiated. We were robbed yesterday. I don't know if you were there but the shots to the head, pulling around the neck in the first half was off the charts. He chose to let it go. Absolutely no consistency from game to game with these officials. Pay them and sack them instead of the big guys at head quarters.

Anyone who thinks that wasn't a penalty is myopic

Can understand your frustration as Waterford played great stuff but the Umpire made the right call, De Burca probably could have shielded the ball out. To say you were "cheated" is unfair, Clare dug it out and played very well. It was a great game for the neutral. Play to that standard again next week and there is every chance you are going to trouble Limerick. Its going to be a nervy weekend for many of us. Any update on DOD, his loss at midfield has really been highlighted in the last few games. Middle third is far less fluid moving the ball without him. He always brought that bit of calm to the frenetic chaos of the middle third. Fitzy01 (Limerick) - Posts: 411 - 20/05/2024 11:27:53 2545811 Link 0 |
Nice to see how people's match predictions were blown out the window. Nobody saw this performance from Cork coming. They're growing in confidence, and with any luck will feature in all Ireland competition.

I don't agree much with Davy or his antics. The umpire was wrong and made a guess. Had his hands ready to wave it wide. Then changed his mind. You have not mentioned the first 65 if the goalie did not put it wide would have gone in the net. The ref has a tough job but allowing these guys decide games is time out. Plenty of electronic ways to collect scores and a decisions like these need review. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13779 - 20/05/2024 12:10:08 2545824 Link 1 |

Watch it again. He was heading for the floor before any contact. Ryan didnt need to touch him after that and in the split second the ref had to make up his mind, it looked like to him that Ryan had sent him to the ground. I am not blaming the ref, I actually blame Ryan for following through but the Waterford player was on the way down before Ryan touched him

I still wouldnt rule out a backlash from Tipeprary next week. Waterford were out last year and beat Tipperary in Thurles. That being said and I keep referring to the word logic but logically Clare should win with a bit to spare. But I was concerned with our energy levels in the second half yesterday. Dalo alluded to a stomach bug running (literally) through the Clare camp last week on his podcast. I hope our lack of energy was something to do with this. Logically as i said Clare shuld win but logic has been thrown out the window this year in the Munster and Leinster championship. Great to see Tony back and he popped up with a crucial score. I dont think he will start v Tipperary though but we need to get more of a handle around the middle of the field. We need McInerney back too. Tipperary though seem to be game enough but once their opponents up the tempo they are found seriously wanting and it does look like they threw in the towel against both Limerick and Cork. If we can up our instensity to that of the Cork match they wont beat us and I expect to win comfortably. If Limerick do the business against Waterford the Tipperary game is redundent as both Clare and Limerick will be in the Munster final again. This is exactly why it is a good idea to have the games run simulataneously as if Limerick beat Waterford and Clare play Tipperary next it would be a total dead rubber game. Diarmuid is a fine player but a panicky type of defender at times at least Tony Kelly got a bit of game time Ian Galvin also Shans must be fuming also no time. I honestly think Aidan McCarthy doesn't offer enough to command 14 as much as he does. Dara Lohan took goal well and would have another if Fitzgerald wasn't so greedy but offered little else I believe Taylor will be fit for MF if we get there we need himself Keel and Davy Mac fully fi t clooney (Clare) - Posts: 960 - 20/05/2024 12:48:09 2545849 Link 0 |
That's one persons prediction :) I think everyone in Limerick got to see first hand what ye are capable of and ye backed it up, Limerick took a long time to adjust to Corks sheer pace but Limerick did play much more on their terms in the second half. Teams need to sit deeper against Cork with half back midfield and half forward line pushing deeper and closer. This is Limericks default second half setup against most teams. If Cork get out they will take some stopping. Long way to go yet and nothing is guaranteed. Fitzy01 (Limerick) - Posts: 411 - 20/05/2024 12:50:17 2545850 Link 0 |
I think the 65 at the end was the correct decision judging from the replay but how the hell the umpire missed that one in the first half is beyond me and he standing right beside it, it was so blatant, that's the type of mediocrity that needs calling out, if umpires can't get them decisions correct your at nothing . The same mickey mouse carry on cost limerick in 2019. Everybody saw it except the officials .

We need to get away from this idea in the GAA that a draw is a fair result. Too often when there is only a point between the teams or the sides are level the referee will play for a draw. I think the uproar from yesterday's game was that the umpire should have waved it wide cos it was a draw which would have been the wrong decision and everyone would have been happy. I think he saw de Burca hurley and had the decision right in his head but in the heat of the moment went to wave it wide and then corrected himself. journeyman (Limerick) - Posts: 141 - 20/05/2024 14:28:02 2545875 Link 1 |
Playing final round group games at the same time, not so much a good idea as a necessity surely. Even FIFA and EUFA and Premier League etc figured that out years ago.

Cheated is such a poor term to use. Were Tipperary "cheated" out of a result when the referee obstructed their goal keepers line of sight for Waterfords penalty?

Not correct,if tipp and waterford win, clare are out,Limerick are plus +16,Cork +15 and clare even I think.

One interesting issue again raising its head is refereeing consistency. Knockfiarna (Limerick) - Posts: 24 - 20/05/2024 15:38:16 2545911 Link 3 |
The timing of such tackles plays on a refs mind, for example you are unlikely to get one very early in the game which is wrong of course.

I understand that Limerick Waterford is to be shown live next week but no TV coverage for Clare v Tipperary or GAA coverage for that matter. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 20/05/2024 17:08:37 2545939 Link 0 |
Clare v Tipp is foregone conclusion.....if Clare can't beat Tipp come on now! Majority want to watch Waterford "knock" limrik out of the Championship! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2475 - 20/05/2024 17:22:59 2545947 Link 0 |
Yes, and Sean Stack who gave it last weekend was the very linesman yesterday who seemed to indicate to the ref not to give a penalty or a black card. They had a good chat anyway before the decision was made. It'd be interesting to quiz Stack on why he felt one was and the other one wasn't! foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2095 - 20/05/2024 18:11:45 2545967 Link 0 |
