Combine the total sum of AIs of Armagh, Donegal and Galway and it's still less than a third of what Kerry has won! Good maneen yourself, you have us well buttered! No need for a pinch of salt on your Kerry Gold!

Kerry may well win the All Ireland, but it will be far from easy. If they saunter into the semi-final with the same thinking that you have, Armagh will soon refocus their minds.

Replying To Lockjaw:  "You could be right but I think there'll be none of that chat within the Donegal dressing room. At the Ulster Final homecoming Jim left noone under any illusions that Donegal wouldn't be going hammer & tongs for the All Ireland.

I think this chat about it being "a year too early" is dangerous talk. Taking yourselves as an example in Derry, I'd say a lot of people said the same thing about your lads this time last year.

You can't just assume that progress will continue uninterrupted in an upward trajectory. Injuries, suspensions, fall-outs etc could derail even the best laid plans.

So I think Donegal will be hellbent on winning the whole thing, and no better man than Jim in making the players believe that too. Whether it will happen or not, we'll soon see."
He's the man with a plan in his van to lift the Sam!

Replying To FoolsGold:  "Clifford is obviously a very good player but does he ever use his right foot? He's always looking to go left compared to Shane Walsh who can kick smooth off either foot."
Yes , he does. Maybe he is not quite as comfortable on his right , but that is the case with all 2 footed players. Shane Walsh is an arguable exception to that but to be honest even Shane, although he might not admit it, is better off his dominant right foot.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "I can see Armagh Kerry being a real battle, them Kerry lads mix it up as good as anyone and leave the odd late hit in often enough, could be a feisty affair and with Armagh's record in recent years.
I think Kerry will just have too much for them with the Clifford factor and Armagh's long record of near misses in their minds coming down the home stretch.
I think our game with Galway could be a real shootout if it opens up, Galway you'd say are clearly fav given their recent experience at the business end of the Championship but if things go right for us we have the firepower to beat them I have no doubt about that.
2 great games to look forward to, pity in a way everything will be over in a month but I won't mind too much if Sam Maguire is wintering in the hills of Tir Chonaill !
A word on Dublin, a fantastic team probably the best we will ever see, some great players might retire now but Dublin will be back strong again next year,
I hope Louth and the rest of Leinster can keep improving, great to see new teams coming through and doing well."
Galway haven't been unduly troubled by any team's firepower to date in 2024, and I'll be surprised if Donegal's firepower troubles them greatly. Galway's problems are up front so far this year, not at the back.

Can anyone name a good football they've seen at the Euros? Players getting more money in a week than our GAA players get in a year and they have go to work. We are a nation of complainers.

Clifford would struggle I'd imagine to take a 45 off the ground with his weaker foot.

You are spot on.

I can see this one being very feisty to say the least. Both teams well able to go in with late big hits.

I think once kerry get a sizable lead - it will be curtains. I honestly cant see Armagh outscoring them.

The pick of the semi finals is Donegal v Galway imo. Looking forward to this one.

The debate about Dublin being the GOAT will rumble on and I think when we are in decline, maybe only then will more people speak and think more highly of them.

This year Cian, Lee, Jamesie and Jack were all carrying injuries.
I actually think the latter 2 were not fully up to speed for that Galway game tbh.
Although maybe it was just time catching up on them.

I think within 3 years there will be a much more competitive Leinster Championship also btw.
Defo no conveyor belt of talent in Dublin, and underage are no world beaters by any stretch.

Anyway, hopefully both semi finals will be crackers one way or another.

I havent watched much of it tbh.
Waiting for the big games this weekend and beyond. ;o)

Heard the games are pretty awful to a large extent though.

GAA players put in some effort, and all for the love of the game, their club, and/or county.
Massive commitment. We have all done it in one way or another - as a player and/or volunteer.
It is what makes the GAA great.

Replying To foreveryoung:  "Congrats to Armagh, Donegal, Galway, and Kerry on making the semi-finals. These four teams in the main kick the ball quite a lot (although Kerry seemed less inclined to do that against Derry), so we should have two good games. Kerry are probably rubbing their hands at Dublin being knocked out and must be considered favorites for Sam now.

However, if Armagh bring their A game, then it is possible that they will be the ones to end up in the final. How Galway are fixed for injuries could well decide the other semi-final. Donegal are flying it, but with a full side, especially Shane Walsh and Comer, I'd expect Galway's greater experience to just get them over the line.

A final word to say what campions and ambassadors of the game Dublin have been over the past decade and more. A few of those players are among the true greats of the game."
Mr. Forever Young has drastically changed his opinion on Donegal in a few short weeks. After the defeat to Cork, he was on the Donegal forum ridiculing Donegal, and forecasting demise of McGuinness!

Jamal Musiala, Arda Guler, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Georges Mikautadze, Ngolo Kante, Fabian Ruiz, Pedri, Nico Wiliams, Rafeal Leao, Lamine Yamal, Ruben Vargas are just some of the players who have been very impressive.

I have only watched the last half from yesterday's match myself, going by social media people are saying it's crap but I don't hear the uproar that our GAA players and teams are getting. People here just love running down our own sport.

You're complaining about the complainers. How many GAA players would, if they were told they had the talent and potential when they were 10 years old, get their family to back them to go down the soccer route. Forfeit their education, their family, friends, community and leave to back their talent? They get stupid money, no doubt, can't justify that. But they took the risk and fair play to them. I admire the ones who scrapped, without a pile of skills, limited ability, like Paul McShane, and made a living from the game he loves. Some of the talented players are too lazy, probably easy money didn't help.

I'm big into both sports and I have watched a lot of the Euros. The quality and entertainment has been fantastic IMO. One of the best competitions I can remember in a long time. High quality finishing and great technical ability, even from the so called weaker nations, lot of games going down to the wire, some upsets, all the fun of the fair. The big eye opener for me is just how far the Irish soccer team has fallen behind in terms of technical ability compared to even the weakest nations in this competition. Austria, Slovenia, Romania, Georgia, Turkey, Slovakia, Switzerland all have a sprinkling of fantastic technicians in their sides. We're not even in the same ball park. Football has come a long way since the hoofing of the Jackie C days.

'Football has come a long way since the hoofing of the Jackie C days'.
The irony is, that a lot the players who played under Jack were top class and played for top clubs and were well capable of playing more than just 'hoof ball'.

Absolutely. One of the most talented squads we ever had. Brady, Lawrenson, Aldridge, Houghton, Whelan, Staunton, McGrath, Sheedy, Townsend all playing for top English teams at the time, who played decent football. Jack's instruction was basically to run and hound players like crazy, hoof the ball into the opposition half and keep it there as they can't score from that far out. Simple, effective but God awful to watch.

It wasn't pretty but it was effective. Some say that the Russia game in 1988 was one of the best games Ireland ever played. But a rarity under Charlton.
