Yes, Kerry are seeing Derry as a great test ahead of a future meeting with Dublin. Again the shitty scheduling puts Derry at a disadvantage as a rested Derry would give Kerry a great test. History would say if Kerry are to be caught napping its at this stage. Kerry will struggle with Derry's massed defence and if they can get a grip on Clifford Kerry could struggle to get scores. Armagh should have Louth's number, I like them this year and I also admire Louth's progress. Dublin should have the advantage here, Galway are playing well but they have injury problems with key players, and with no break it'll probably be a bit too much. Kerry's first test. Did Derry turn a corner v Mayo? One things for sure, Derry will turn up for this as they would have if they had drawn Dublin. Similar to last year's game i reckon, if Clifford is firing, I'll give them a hesitant vote. In 2023 not one of 4 the Preliminary QF winners won their next game. Monaghan went through on Penalties after a draw but the others were well beaten, Cork by 4, Tyrone by 10, and Mayo by 12 points. Galway need all their players fit - 3 weeks in a row is tough enough, without having to do it without key men. Dublin need to go at full pelt from the off, and make the Galway lads run out of steam hopefully. These lads are as close to pros as you can get. If anything coming off the back of that win will see them at complete match fitness levels and very sharp. And in fairness there was quite a bit to like about Cavan who have some good players and play the game positively. Mayo who have ran ye closer than anyone over the past 20 years suffered their biggest loss to Dublin (12 points) in QF last year, after a week of a break. Outside of Dublin, Mayo would be seen by most as the next nearest thing to a pro outfit, and had an excellent record with weekly games via the back door system. One slight mitigating factor that may help Galway avoid being routed, is that a few of our key players are just returning from injury and are fresh, but not match hardened.
