GAA President - Jarlath Burns

He wasnt saying this when the Leinster counties welcomed Antrim into their hurling championship as there was no competition for them in Ulster.

- Casement Park. Lots of politician like talk as usual but not a piece of sod turned.

- Compressed Intercounty championship and All Ireland finals in July. Blink and youll miss it. Since the switch LOI soccer is growing massively in North Dublin and Leinster rugby in the South.

Your's is a ridiculous post. His speeches are very far from being self indulgent. The bulk of them are spent thanking the people who contribute to the GAA. I've been in Croke Park for all three of his senior All Ireland final speeches. They have all been very well received by those in attendance. He is a highly articulate and capable man who has been involved in the association since he was a child. He was and remains a tremendous club man who has been involved in his own club at all levels as a player, administrator and volunteer all of his life. He has been an excellent President to this point in his three years. Under his stewardship football has been revived as this year's exceptional championship has very clearly exemplified. The provincial championships are here to stay and so they should. Look at joy unconfined in Castlebar, Clones and most especially in Croke Park this year.
Blaming him for the lack of progress in relation to the development of Casement Park is laughable and doesn't even merit the dignity of a reply.
Soccer in particular has been growing in Dublin since well before the split season. It has also been growing since well before Jarlath Burns became Uachtarán. Do try to keep up. It may also have escaped your attention that the GAA pumped and continues to pump huge amounts of money into Dublin GAA in the form of games development grants since 2007. Yet soccer continues to thrive in Dublin. What is wrong with that? I have been a season ticket holder in my own League of Ireland club for years. Maybe soccer is thriving in Dublin because people thoroughly enjoy playing it. Maybe they thoroughly enjoy as I do, going to support their own LOI club. Jarlath Burns can't be held responsible for that. Even an individual as blinkered as you should be able to see that.

He had the intestinal fortitude to mention Michael Hogan on Sunday when many a cowardly Fine Gael president would never have.

This year Louth won Leinster and it was as if we had a second All Ireland final such was the build up.

Disagree with everything you've said to be honest. For too long the GAA has been Dublin centric and now that we've a president for all, the usual noisy rugby followers come out and moan against him.

Also he was dead right to intervene with the Fermanagh man. Again he had the stomach to come out and do something when cowards within the GAA were happy to let that man bounce around and lift a wage off the GAA.

Previous presidents have mentioned and indeed honoured Michael Hogan and the other victims of Bloody Sunday 1920. Maybe you missed John Horan doing so in 2020.

There has been one Dublin GAA president in 100 years, two general secretaries from Dublin since GAA foundation. I'm no fan of Dublin gaa but how on earth can you claim the GAA is Dublin centric with that record?

It is your opinion he is a president for all, what exactly do you mean by this? And noisy rugby followers?

How do you define excellent and what makes him better than previous presidents in that regard? If he can't be blamed for progress in GAA matters then how can he be praised either?

He asked the club to reconsider their position and made it quite clear from the start that they were free to take whatever decision they wanted. Interfering would be issuing a dictat to tell the club not to do something. There's a difference. And anyhow would you want a man like that involved with a club? As president of the GAA he is well within his rights to defend the reputation of the organisation.
