He would be better off arresting the spiralling ticket prices, all on his watch. GAA are now looking at incrementally increasing ticket prices dependent on location in croke park, meaning tickets on half way line will be more expensive than Davin etc

You'll have this dynamic pricing stuff starting for finals I bet before long. There's no way they'll keep a ticket priced on the lower tier of the cusack or hogan as the same price as up at the back of the canal end for too long.

It's already being discussed st a high level, expect the change to be in by 2026, I doubt if it will be put to Congress to approve, Congress is becoming more and more meaningless

You won't have dynamic pricing for All-Ireland final tickets.

And with the endless parade of 'celebrities' and 'influencers' wanting to be seen at these big games and posting their stories of being there, prices will go up and up. They won't be seen at a league game in February mind you.

We shall see

I too thought it was sanctimonious self-indulgent palaver as well. Get up there, present your cup and sit down with yourself. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1450 - 22/07/2025 12:13:57 2627096 Link 6 |
It'd be an operational matter rather than a rule change, so no need to put it to Congress. Much like how admission prices to club championship matches in Leitrim or Wexford or anywhere else are decided by the Coiste Bainistí in the county, rather than having to go to a full County Board meeting of club delegates for approval. Would be in two minds about the idea myself. On the one hand, doesn't seem right that a ticket at the back corner of the upper deck of the Davin Stand costs the same as a ticket by the halfway line in lower deck of the Cusack. But on the other hand, for every one seat in the Upper Davin that drops to €70 (for example), another seat somewhere else has to increase to €130 if overall revenue is to be maintained, and €130 seems too much for any one match. Finally, just to clarify this would not be dynamic pricing. This would be having different fixed prices for different seats, and yes, there is a difference. And you could add to it that no way a centre field cusack ticket will be the same price as a cusack ticket tucked in beside the hill 16 wall.

Can you please tell us your source for this ticket prices based on location that the GAA are 'now looking at' as you put it? I cannot find any info on this apart from what you said.

God but the whingers are out in force. Jarlath Burns made made a fine, well researched and well delivered speech and then handed over the Liam McCarthy cup to Ronan Maher who also made a fine speech.

Indeed we shall. The majority of All-Ireland tickets are funnelled through the club's of the counties involved and then clubs around the country. This gives true supporters a better chance of getting tickets, than if everything just went up for open sale on Ticketmaster. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2460 - 22/07/2025 13:13:14 2627132 Link 0 |
Has the Shannon suffered some kind of issue lately to explain where the nonsensical conspiracy theories re tickets seem to emanate from the Leitrim area?? Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 2285 - 22/07/2025 13:15:42 2627133 Link 1 |
Plenty of ordinary joe soaps who were there won't be seen at a league game in February either.

Think you have unrealistic expectations of the man. If teams don't perform on a particular day, or in a particular season, that's hardly his fault. Thought his speech was pretty good, though I'd rather there weren't any speeches at all if it was up to me. I enjoyed the hurling championship myself, went to plenty of games including the final, and saw many more on TV and clubber. Some games were better than others for sure, but if you were a betting man and had gone in at the start of the season, or even at the end of the League, wanting to put a double on Kildare and Tipperary, you would have got great odds. what was he on about cake and icing ? I would prefer him just to thank the people who need thanking and let the captain make a speech.

I think he was saying cork are like cake but tipp are the icing on the cake? I didn't know what he was on about but it may be a saying from Armagh?

He doesn't need to make a speech, he needs to hand over the cup to the winning captain and sit down and listen to him talking. It is very simple

Indeed, or buying season tickets either

Why does the captain need to make a speech either? That should be saved for the homecoming. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 16679 - 22/07/2025 14:13:31 2627164 Link 0 |
