Too true and that is the view of every Leitrim person I know

Don't think we've ever won in Croke Park. We've beaten Sligo plenty. SeanMacDiarmada (Leitrim) - Posts: 408 - 27/03/2024 20:05:25 2534174 Link 0 |
Surprised at the comments on this. If I was a Leitrim man i'd be very excited at the prospect of a league decider in Croker. Leitrim have only played in Croke Park five times in their entire history (1959, 1994, 1995, 2006, 2019)!!! This week will make it six. If that doesn't get you a bit excited, i'm not sure what will. No you are correct. Leitrim want to win on Saturday, be nice to win the following weekend too, and the team will try their best but no way do they plan on just turning up Saturday to fulfill the fixture so they can be fresh for the Sligo game. Rubbish mindsets like that is why we get so few days in the sun.

Delighted with the win tonight. I predicted way back on this thread that Laois would be the strongest team in the division by some distance. People underestimate Justin McNulty s influence. There are always decent players in Laois. McNulty brings the professionalism needed. Hard luck to Leitrim, but I'm sure getting promotion was the main aim, and tonight was bonus territory. What struck me most of all tonight was the joy winning of winning a trophy. That's all any county wants. To compete against teams of similar ability with a chance to achieve. Unfortunately the Leinster championship doesn't afford us that chance. If we manage to beat Offaly ( a 50-50 game ) we have to play Dublin. Not nice. well done, better hungrier fitter team won on the day. does not matter if we have good forwards, a game plan, a sweeper keeper etc if we cannot run after our men and stand them up when we do not have the ball, we will get crucified by the fitter hungrier teams. Laois learned lessons against us in the last game and were ruthless the whole way through. Annoying thing is the goals we conceded were soft and a result of slack tired marking, I know people are sick of hearing it but our conditioning is far behind most Div3 teams and we will get found badly next year. A win against Sligo would lift us greatly followed by a run in the TC gaelsboy (Leitrim) - Posts: 565 - 02/04/2024 11:41:36 2535152 Link 0 |
