The sponsorship thing is an odd one. SuperValu probably makes sense given their demographic are probably into gaa. similar to Chadwick's I suppose, but innovate was always an odd one for me. The sponsor is not concerned with with what the punter entering the grounds calls the grounds, giving our ability to put colorful words in front of everything, what the punter ends up calling it is hardly what the sponsor is aiming at. What it gives them is the fact that their name is in the media every time a game is in the place which could be nationwide. Think of how many people the brand Innovate reached by that sponsorship - the GAA is a cross section of Irish society and for the people who look at their products I am sure it struck a cord.

Different between GAA and Rugby is Professionalism,
Rugby teams need to pay players wages so they need all the money they can find

Even if it were a joke, it's shows unbelievable ignorance and disrespect to those who fought and died for our country.

In Saint Enda's, the school he founded in Rathfarnham, now the Pearse Museum, there was huge emphasis on modern practical subjects like science, nature study and European languages. Sports, drama, music and Irish dancing were also encouraged. The pupils took part in both indoor and outdoor physical activity. He employed a native Irish speaker who taught the boys how to grow potatoes and vegetables - way ahead of its time and totally different to the narrow English curriculum about which he wrote, The Murder Machine.

Not debating the merits of Pearse etc but he was only 5 years old when the GAA was founded.

This about the members of Cork GAA stopping same crowd making another short sighted financially motivated decision!

The "hassle" (cultural assault is actually more accurate) is aimed at further commercialisation and dumbing down of what was once part of the Irish revolution. Those who mentioned Pearse get that.
