Barneygrant I hope that they ru and reason I said it looks that way is from midfield to corner forward is what those players are known for.. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2378 - 10/05/2024 09:36:21 2543931 Link 0 |
They may do whatever they please, for all the difference it will make, I think! They may as well throw caution to the wind, and Cork on a good day are very exciting to watch when they do. Been involved in some great games last few years, but usually on the wrong end. Can't see that ending this weekend. Have to agree too with previous speaker on so many potentially good games been thrown on around same times. Dedicated followers find it difficult to see even their own county teams some days. Any word on the injury to Sean Finn or recovery of Mike Casey?any chance of Richie English making it back?we are struggling for cover now in full back line,I have faith in fergal o Connor as I rate him as a very good defender, was excellent in fitzgibbon for ul all year..was also one of stand out players for under 20s for 2 years..he made championship debut last night and didn't do much wrong.there are 2 weeks so maybe some fellas might have recovered..there are worrying signs in that a few players are still struggling to find any form and we need them the last weeekend..we are giving up a lot of goal scoring chances and Nicky has been outstanding..only for him last night cork would have been out of reach at half time.if things tighten up at the back we won't be far away again..I still have great faith in all this set up and for them to give us another fab year.. Mike casey will ve back for Waterford match. Daragh o donovan still a few weeks away. Sean's injury looked similar to Mike's so about 4 weeks I'd imagine depending on the grade.

Is Richie English injured as has not featured on match day 26 in any of 3 games, always a good option to bring on

Ya Richie did his cruciate in the lead up to Galway semi last year..he's a big loss from panel as he had been flying last year and was probably unlucky to lose out to Barry Nash at the time..a few more of the younger lads are getting time now so hopefully all will work out. The Clare match and the Cork match really highlight to me, how Important Darragh O'Donovan is to the Limerick Team. LimerickandProud (Limerick) - Posts: 94 - 13/05/2024 12:28:11 2544477 Link 1 |
Richie is recovering from a Cruciate injury. I am not sure when it happened but I was told he's not ready to return yet

He's a bit like Dan Morrissey.. Very underrated player and It's only when not there you realise how important they are..

I could be wrong, but I think, since Kiely and Kinnerk came in we have only ever conceded three goals in the championship once before - Tipp in that crazy 2021 Munster final where we were blitzed in the first half. That game was similar in a lot of ways to Saturday night except we did a better job in the first half of staying in touch (rather fortunately, I think we could have been more than 8 down at HT)) and Cork did a better job than Tipp of keeping in touch in the second (Tipp also scored a late goal in 2021 but it was too late to influence the result) Yadse (Limerick) - Posts: 57 - 13/05/2024 14:14:16 2544520 Link 0 |
Thanks, had forgotten that. Always been a great servant & hopefully gets back soon

A huge amount of positives to take from Saturday's game despite the loss. If there was any game to lose out of the 4 I think this was the one to lose. It allows management to address areas that were poor and get these right for the rest of the championship. Flanaghan's form is a huge positive and he is a player that thrives on confidence. Hegarthy is also back to his best after an average year last season. Our backs struggled when Cork ran at us and it was very unusual for our half back line to lose so many aerial puck outs. We can't afford to allow team get big leads on us and always try to pull this back. It was still some turnaround to go from 8 points down to 4 up. Fergal OConnor had a shaky start but recovered well and will be better for the experience but we need to get Mike Casey back if Finn is out. I think it is better to keep the minds focus for the Waterford game as it can be difficult to switch this on and off trough out a championship. There was always going to be a bump along the road but we are still in a great position. journeyman (Limerick) - Posts: 141 - 13/05/2024 15:08:33 2544536 Link 0 |
Cork did what they should have been capable of for last few years ,performed up to and beyond 70th Minute. We were lucky I think to be only 8 points in arrears at ht. Looking at game in 1st half a huge amount of attacks came on the diarmuid byrnes side of the pitch. Also cork were way hungrier to the breaking ball and also created a lot of overlaps which we found difficulty in dealing with. I think the team are experienced enough and realistic enough to shut out the outside noise, talks of decline etc are ignoring the facts that in every game in Munster last year we were pushed to the limit,it puts into perspective how extraordinary it is that we have won 5 munster titles in a row . Like last year we will go into the last game needing to avoid defeat to progress, let's see how it plays out but I've no doubt this team will give it their all like they have done for the last 6 or 7 years Knockfiarna (Limerick) - Posts: 24 - 13/05/2024 18:12:06 2544574 Link 2 |
Limerick very unlucky the weekend and if anything that match will make them a stronger force going forward. Is Richie English still apart of the Limerick squad? I know we got injured last year but no sign of him in a long time, quality player would make any other inter county team we could do with a player like him up west Galway456 (Galway) - Posts: 110 - 14/05/2024 17:38:18 2544793 Link 0 |

Thanks Galway456, a bit unlucky but Cork played well. However their defence is still dodgy and that could come back to bit. Ritchie has done his cruciate and must be now nearly recovered. I am surprised Galway have not done more with the four in a row Minor Teams. There always seems to be a lot of potential there.
