Younger lads? Every one needs be on one to try catch up on Lim/Clare/Galway S&C wise.

Replying To wexford2012:  "Is Leinster now structurally disadvantaged? Munster are all top teams, they won't even consider allowing Kerry into Munster should they win the Joe Mac! Does playing Carlow, Westmeath really lift all boats and help prepare the counties to challenge their Munster counterpart's?"
It's complete nonsense, and protectionism, that there's no relegation from Munster and that they make no effort to accommodate teams from the Mcdonagh. Either we are all trying to grow the game or not. The evidence would suggest it's more the latter unfortunately. Tipp would be very heavy favourites to beat Carlow in a playoff anyway and at least the system would be fair. Tipp are poor and Waterford are average at best too. I think it would be a big surprise if the same three Munster teams didn't come through again next year.

In saying all that, I don't think it has anything to do with why Leinster teams have dropped off. KK beat themselves v CE, that second half collapse was worse than us in 2019, badly need to refresh their bench. Still the most likely to win an AI next year or make a final. Galway are firmly in rebuild mode now, overdue really and they will come again in 2-3 years. The Dubs aren't in a bad spot, underage results improving, horror show v KK aside they were competitive in every other game. No idea where we are at, good for one or two big performances but nowhere near consistent enough to make an AI semi final or final. Offaly should be a lot stronger than Carlow, Antrim, Westmeath in 2-3 years, first year back likely to be tough.

Some of the lads need to lose bulk and get faster. Jippo seemed to have got faster this year for example. Mac could do with working on his speed and workrate but wouldn't need to get any bigger either. Some of the taller younger lads could do with working on both.

No way of knowing how Offalys young lads are going to transition to Senior tbh. And there's not that many of them over successive years either. They need to get a higher successful transition rate from u20 to top Senior player than the 4 more established counties in the Leinster Championship. Same would go for Antrim over the next few years.

Not sure I'd include Galway in that. They might be tall but we totally dominated them physically this year

Would you expect this to happen under a new Galway manager?

Probably not, but I suspect they've a bit of a rebuild to do which will take a couple of seasons.

Looking at some of the games last year, a lot of lads need to hit the ball alley and skills work during the winter too.

Our hurling isn't crisp enough, it's not red hot sharp like the Kilkennys or Limerick in full flow.

Also I see Cork had an athletics speed coach in with them this year , Cork have a few big lads but a lot of their lads have lightning pace.

Eventually? What sort of answer is that?
Next year... 5 years ... 20 years?

I love to operate side but hate the concrete. The plan us the individual seats that attach to the benches like on Thurles which I think would be class

Have any of ye listened to the athlete unplugged with aishling o Reilly and Andrew porter. Very interesting. Chin saying his knee isn't right since 2019 so can't do squat training. Worth a listen

What's the deal with all the county hurlers not playing club football?

"Eventually" means hopefully within the next 12 months or so. Possibly over the winter when the ground is not being used much, or even at all.

It was said at Co. Board earlier this year that the plan had been to attach individual plastic seats (not fold-down/bucket seats like in the stand) to the tops of the concrete benches that are already there. Then it was discovered that some sort of Health & Safety consideration meant that doing this would make the seats too high from the ground. You'd surely only be talking about a couple of inches, but that's H&S for you.

As I understand it, what they're going to have to do now is remove all those old concrete benches, replace them with something else, and then attach the new plastic seating to the new benches. A far bigger and indeed far more expensive job.

I don't have this as gospel. It's just my understanding of it.

As I got told it wasn't just a height issue. If the benches were drilled for the pins to hold the frames which hold the seats, this might make them structurally unsafe.
Up or down, you are right. It's made the whole job significantly more expensive.
