Tomsmith here from Cavan
This Post has veered into a pathway that was never intended ie posters talking about Millwall , Leeds ect .
I say again " Irelands call " let the Ulster Council of the Gaa take it on board and encourage the Ulster Clubs to play it. While composed by a formed Londonderry man Phil Cou---er I feel it would be lovely to hear it being belted out in Silverbridge, Cross and in or around the Antrim Gaa grounds. Sure the Brethern would then feel part of our wonderful organisation

Nonsense Tom. It's not that far up the road to West Belfast for you. If you and Mrs T start saving now you will have the diesel money saved by Xmas. Belfast at Xmas is very pretty, and there are plenty of places to listen to music and sup a pint or 4. Or you could buy one pint and bring some cans in in your pockets if you prefer. Then you could bounce your idea off some people up there, and hopefully they won't bounce you and Mrs T out of the bar and onto the pavement.

Even the likes Bundee Aki going to the effort of singing it and he's not Irish."
Bon. I am of the same opinion re Irelands Call, I switch it off. I recall a South African native, who played with Munster, and Ireland?, learned the National Anthem. I can't recall the name, the player has returned to SA now.

Our own national anthem is on the go now for about 113 years , and hopefully that will be the case for evermore

Listening to Ireland call on Saturday evening and looking at the 100 % Irish participation in every word of it I wonder if iot was played before Gaa games instead of the National Anthem would it appeal to more people to participate from the wider community. The Gaa is somewhat lost to a large group of people in for instance Nothern IIreland .
It would be worth considering if we were / want to atrack people who have an allegiance to an non EEC Country"
Are you feeling unwell? Maybe need to up the prescription strength. Have a word with your doc.

Perhaps if you look at the idea for what it is worth and if say the Clubs that are in Nothern Ireland , which is part of the United Kingdom land amss were to stretch out the hand of friendship to our non Catholics friends up there .
This gesture of playing Ireland call may hold out the hand of frienship

The new All Ireland State will of course have a new Anthem.
Meanwhile can we get rid of the scratchy gramophone recordings which are an insult to the Anthem.
I'm not a fan of poor young Scór girleens freezing in November or February while singing it as a lament either.

Changing the national anthem would be pointless as most Unionists are alienated to the GAA in the same way Nationalists are opposed to the Orange Order. Fans at Northern Ireland matches are currently objecting to the use of Casement Park for games in the Euro 2028 tournament.

Not all of them it has to be said. A vocal minority.

Never a truer word spoke. Too many young Scór singers singing the anthem softly is a no no. It's started now a club games in Tyrone. Should be kept for special occasions.

I am looking at the idea for what its worth. Its worth nothing. The GAA is a sporting and cultural organization open to everyone no matter what creed, what colour, what nationality. The GAA believes in a single united Ireland and we play our national anthem and rightfully so.That is the ethos of the association and it has kept people of similar views,ie 80% of the population of Ireland in one sporting body since the partition.Better ask the question what can the 20% do to make up for their sectarian statelet of 100 years.

Tom, you're around a good while now and while I find your ideas - how shall I phrase this - innovative, your referencing Londonderry seriously devalued your credibility. What did the great Mrs.Tom think of it?
I'd say she reddened your ear and you were lucky she didn't commandeer the phone on you.

Look Lads and lassies the war is over and we need to find avenues where intergration is possible.
Lets face it for what it is a large section of the Nothern Ireland people who are aligned to Great Bririan do not look upon the GAA as being of their Sport .
So what can we do to make it more attractive to over 260, 000 people up in Nothern IIreland. I say Irelands call has worked well for Rugby so why not give it a try for say 5 years

Yea, and on a cold wet day let the loyalists dance a haka as well. You'd be better off calling for an improvment in refereeing or improving the Kerry Cow or opening a factory to make glass hammers. In other words it won't happen.

It did not help the Irish team against the All blacks. I was surprised to see the Blacks defeat the New Zealand B/Irish rugby team. TomSmith- Cavan are not good at GAA.
