Louth Club Championship 2023

Relegation play offs I think is the Blues v Gaels and the Feckins v Cooley/Brides. Its the first time since 2015 that the Blues are in a Relegation play offs and it's a repeat of the senior final of 2017 in which the Blues won their first of a 3 in a row.

Should be a tasty one Ollie. You very nearly had a clean sweep in your predictions last week. The Geraldines did for you.

Good man Greengrass. How is she cutting? Ah that Gers, Dreads, Feckins group was always gonna be a tough one to call as it was the only group with all teams playing in Division 1 of the league. Here is my predictions for this coming weekend:

Kevs v S.O.M.........................Kevs
Rats v Clans...........................Rats
Kilkerley v Stabannon...........Kilkerley

2 one sided games yesterday then a thriller in Tallanstlown. Roche very impressive in lunchtime throw in, Clans will be kicking themselves

Big weekend coming up with senior 1/4 finals
I'd fancy Martin's, Mochtas, Mary's Dreadnots to come through and it's a flick of coin between 1st 3 their for the title

Rumours now circling today that Banty McEneaney is being lined up to replace Mickey Harte in Louth.

How would lads feel about Banty taking over?

I'd imagine Oisin Mc will be in the shake up

In fairness to Banty he pulled off a few decent championship victories for Meath a big win over Louth in 2011 and Galway the same year, they were unlucky to lose to Kildare by 3 points who could have won the all Ireland that year. They beat them in 2012 by 6 points in Leinster championship and then put in a great show against dublin in 2012 Leinster final losing 2-12 to 1-12 probably didn't get the credit he should have , much better than mick O'Dowd who followed him

If Banty takes over the Louth job, we are ******. He is not a good manager, did nothing with Meath, and is not up to the modern game. Oisin Mac has to be in contention and possibly Pat Gilroy, but lord Jesus not Banty!

Also, it shows the mentality of Louth supporters that we are all wishing MH well in his new role. We ran Derry close in the league in Ardee, they saw us as a weaker team and decided to poach MH from us, at the last minute. Harte's timing is really poor and very disingenuous given the fact he stated that he was staying for 1 more year at the Leinster final preview night in Dundalk. He was asked by a reporter, are you staying, he said,' for at least 1 more year, and as long as people want me'. I hope Derry gets Donegal in the Ulster championship, and Jimmy keeps winning matches.

Mochs v Pats.................Mochs
Jocks v Gers...................Jocks

Inter Quarter Final:

Ger Brennan the former Dubs defender has emerged as the firm favourite to succeed Mickey Harte as Louth manager.

Louth senior semi final draw keeps the two big guns apart as the Jocks will take on the Dreads in a big south Louth derby and the champions Marys playing the ever improving Pats team.

Another busy weekend coming up with six matches over the three grades taking place:

Senior relegation semi-final play offs:
Blues v Gaels............Blues
Feckins v Brides.........Feckins

Inter semi-finals:
S.O.M v Rats............S.O.M
Kilkerley v Roche........Kilkerley

Junior semi-finals:
Barrs v Tones...........Barrs
Plunketts v Glyde.......Plunketts

Another championship win for the Marys. It has however been completely overshadowed by subsequent events.

Joe Ward will require some major repair work. Lack of class or high jinks?

The prestigious Joe Ward cup will have to be fully replaced, Mary's players supposedly jumping up and down on it and firing it on the ground outside their own clubrooms.

It will be an awkward Louth county dressing room after the poor choice and very personal songs they sang about their fellow county man on the losing team.

A very very strange mindset from a team to have after winning a senior county final.
